www.openoffice.org does all that Microsoft Office does, including seamlessly handling incoming Office files, and OpenOffice files can be read by Office users - and its a free download. I have used it the last year without any complaints.

Also, you can buy & hook up an inexpensive external DVD-CD player if the computer you`re buying doesn`t have one. Also, I`ve been told that its best to use an external player for viewing - and to leave internal player use for recording only, so delaying replacing the more-expensive internal player. |

Also, no risk of fakes, implanted viruses, etc. |
