You make some good points,
Cosemtic surgery for crooked teeth? I think it's fine, because it serves a purpose for chewing (arguably)
I admit, personally my lines are not arbitrary, but ambigous. I don't have a solid criteria for what is acceptable and what is not. Not because I'm being bias but things are situational and go under different considerations.
Like for example, is it right or wrong to kill a human being? Obviously, it's mostly wrong but there are hypothetical situtations where killing may or may not be justified.
And I don't think plastic surgery is immoral or vain, I have met people that had plastic surgery and we are friends. I don't think it's wrong. I just can't date them. And it's a problem that I have. Here's the thing.
Explained in Darwin terms (survival of the fittest) the basis of attraction and physical beauty for survival. We want to pass our genes down to the best mate we can find, on the basis of looks, personality, etc. All these factors play for which you think will give you chilld the best chances for survival (concious or not of it). Cosmetic surgery for me is almost lying about your genetic code. For some people, (for me at least) the ultimate end of dating and marrige is children. And I don't want to have kids with someone who potentially can bear sasquatch.
I'm not saying looks don't matter. In fact, by the premises of my arguement I'm saying they matter.... A LOT. Which is why I'm understanding of people who get cosmetic surgery, I just won't ever date them.
It sounds hypocritical. In one way, I abhor the fact that people are based on the way they look...Really hate it. But it's our instinctual mechanism for determining mates and who are good people. It's just a reality I have to deal with. |

That's cool. I don't have anything against someone having a personal preference in regards to who they date or marry. I just feel the need to play devil's advocate when I see someone looking down on someone else for the personal choices they make. I'm not crazy pro-plastic surgery like it may appear. I just think the world is changing and what wasn't acceptable, or was looked down on 20 years ago may change. And more power to those who aren't born with everything finding a way to get everything they want in this life.
Now this is funny. You want a hot natural wife so you can have kids with fantastic genes. What happened to all the "teaching my daughter to accept who she is..." Haha. Vanity, vanity.
Man, I appreciate your honesty. Made me smile today. |

| So you don't want to have to shell out for plastic surgery for your kids. |
