I think it depends on the item and how much importance you place on it. If there is agreement on both ends then I would try not to sell it to someone else. It's not as bad as not sending the item, but it goes in that direction. As a community, I would let others know if a seller did this.

On a more practical level though, more common items like chairs or rice cookers come and go, so if you don't get the first one just wait a few weeks and another teacher will be leaving and selling one.

sorry OP, but i'm not with you on this one. without putting some amount of money down (e.g. via a bank transfer), there is no legal or moral obligation in korea or elsewhere for that person to wait for you to get off yer ass and pick up the item. most of the people here are trying to quickly sell their stuff, and don't want to hold an item for someone who might change their mind. they're not professional retailers, so you can't expect them to follow standard business practices.

i do agree that if i have arranged to meet a seller and am already on my way (and i've informed them of this), they shouldn't sell it to another person in the meantime because i'm investing my time and money into the transaction. this is definitely not a legal obligation, though!

it sucks that you don't live in seoul, but that doesn't make bank transfers any more difficult.

Ernie I agree with you about the bank transfers. But when the seller doesn't give u the chance to transfer the money and then sells it to someone else you can't do anything. I posted this because I was frustrated at the time. And I thought this thread would of gone away by now. But to tell you the truth it is over with and I could careless anymore because it will not change the outcome of the sell. Like I said I was just venting.
