According to the second link, soju is sold in 80 countries! WTF? Sounds like some company advertising to me.

I also like this quote:

Quote:
Soju enjoys a lightly sweet, transparent taste while maintaining a deep and smooth finish, a fruity and mellow aroma, and excellent mixing properties. Because soju contains special amino acids called Aspagin, many soju drinkers report experiencing a more relaxing buzz and a reduced hangover.

Now all the salarymen have another excuse for drinking that photocopier fluid.

A reduced hangover?! Big 'ol science words or not, the only thing that remotely compares to a soju hangover might be Hermit's Sherry.

Shocked

I dont get hangovers from soju so much as just feeling stupid the next day. Sometimes that puts me on a perfect wavelength with students! but generally I avoid it on weeknights. If you must, then shower well! The smell effuses through your pores.

That is some really good advice. I drank soju for the first time in a long time last night, (was surprized just how well it went) and this morning I could still smell the stuff, and I thought that really weird. But now as others say its not, the mystery clears. No headache either, but I slept in late.

I say skip the shower. The kids'll be hugging you and thinking you're their dad in no time.

A chemist said there was "weird stuff" in soju?

No way!

That reminds me of the time my doctor told me I had something "strange" wrong with me.

(turns out it was cooties. I got over it.)

If you absolutely must know...

http://www.jinro.co.kr/english/product/01.asp

The liquor thrice-filtered with charcoal made from bamboo In Korea,
Chamjinisulro is the first clean and safe soju filtered three times with
charcoal made from bamboo, which is cooked at 1,000 degrees
celsius. Because Chamjinisulro has been filtered twice, it has never
been leaving no harmful ingredients or impurities. You can enjoy
pure taste without the burden of hangovers due to it's containing
asparagine and affulent minerals.

Apparently Jinro is hiring brothers.
