For the record WILS academy in Mokdong is by far the most organised, efficient and considerate of all the hagwons I've known or heard about so none of the problems mentioned in this thread occur. The boss seems nice ( Shocked ), there's no us v. them mentality as the Korean staff mostly speak good English, and they have teaching resources. It defies all my previous experience so I think it deserves a mention on this forum.

With winter camp coming up tomorrow, I may get a call tonight or tomorrow morning to inform me of my schedule. During summer I happened to miss that call and the director had to take the first mornings classes for me and seemed a little miffed about it. Needless to say, I won't be answering the phone over the next 24 hours.

I've come to realize that for me the best way to deal with him is the same way I would with a teenager. A few weeks ago my adult class got canceled. He told me about a week later after having watched me wait night after night for no-show students, then gave me some BS reason as to why the class had been canceled.
When he pays me two weeks late, he acts like an embarrassed schoolboy, okay, that I can deal with, but- PAY ME already!

I think we can play them at their own game to a certain extent and I do, this way it doesn't get to me half as much anymore. Just some of the joys of Hagwon life and after all, every job has it's pitfalls.

Well hells bells, my schedule changed again...but, I have 3 less classes Laughing
Now I teach 3 classes per/day except on Thursday when I have 5. That's just 17 classes/week 40 mins each!

The new Korean teacher got more classes. Haha! What a break! No wonder nobody talks to me. I teach half as much and get double the pay!
