So count me (along with CdnInKorea) as an exception to the "guys who just pump their guns."

Shocked You can squat 160 kg for six reps? That's a really good squat.

Thanks. They are just parallel squats though. Still have a long way to go. Smile

WORST LOGIC EVER. (Are you a troll?)

Creatine is a very natural substance; in fact it is even used by "natural" bodybuilders. I don'[t even think you really know what "all natural" really means. Maybe you think "all natural" mean "no-supplements?" Anyways some enlightenment for you:

From Wikipedia:

Quote:
In humans, approximately half of stored creatine originates from food (mainly from fresh meat). Since vegetables do not contain creatine, vegetarians show lower levels of muscle creatine which, upon creatine supplementation, rise to a level higher than in meat-eaters.[6]

In humans, about half of the daily creatine is biosynthesized from three different amino acids - arginine, glycine, and methionine. The rest is taken in by alimentary sources. Ninety-five percent of creatine is later stored in the skeletal muscles.

Nothing about that sounds 'unnatural' and the IOC doesn't have any rules in place against creatine. Why? because it is a naturally occuring amino acid.

I take creatine once a day after each workout (and once during my off-days) and currently I squat 1 x 6 / 160 kg. Don't know what my max is. All in the course of 10 months (10 months ago I couldn't even squat 80 kg once). This is all in addition to a very good dietary regimen (high protein, high complex carbs, high calorie, low fat). I've found that using NO-Xplode gives you the benefit of creatine without the bloat. It also gives you a huge caffeine rush that's a lot of fun...

The manufacturers claim that their proprietary blend allows the water to be retained in your muscles thereby letting you keep the gains if you cycle off the creatine.... But I can't verify that at this point

That's why I stopped taking it awhile back.
The substance might be natural, but the amounts that you're consuming when taking creatine monohydrate are not. And when it comes down to it, it's still a performance enhancer.

Do you take vitamins or drink coffee or tea?

hey tiger..
I wouldnt use it if I was you..

you dont need it...
it only makes a small difference, and in the mean time its slowly destroying your kidneys! (OK if taken for years)
but anyway, makes you bloated! and doesnt really give you that energy you crave in the gym! I took it for a year! and really didnt notice anything different, I cycled it, and when I wasnt using it I was pumping the same.

when I was on it I would struggle on certain lifts so really I didnt find it something special or some hidden secret for the gym! all you need is a good nights sleep, eat healthy, stay fit and strong, and you will do fine in the gym...

I use Gaspari Size On Tropical punch flavor. I don't have a specific cycle for using creatine and I don't use it all that often. I buy a tub, use it, finish it, buy a new one a few months later when/if I remember. I noticed a decent difference the first time I used it. Seems like now, I use it more for the fact that I'm used to drinking something sugary during my workout instead of the actual creatine benefits.

I'm not going to make a recommendation either way. I just happen to use it on occasion. If someone told me I could never use it again, I wouldn't cry about it. I'm not doctor or researcher to give you the health hazards if there are any, nor am I meticulous enough to write down the before and after set/rep differences. Good luck with your workout!

You could be a non-responder to creatine. If so, then it's no surprise you didn't see any results. Personally, I see about a 10% gain in my max lifts when I'm on it, plus noticeable size increase.

The advantage of going all natural is that humans have been eating food for thousand of years, and we know the foods we eat are safe.

The supplements haven't been used for so long - do we know Creatine may create side effects/problems in 20 years; I have no idea.

Drinking milk is effective.

What do young mammals use to grow? Milk! Milk it's nature's "supplement".

I also love Rippetoe's program as mentioned above. "Starting strength" though isn't exactly "5x5" it's "3x5" work sets with 4 or 5 warm-up sets. Madcow is 5x5.

You guys who are squatting. Do you have a power rack in your gym? I can't find a gym with a power rack, so I have to power clean and front squat.

I've gotten used to that, but a power rack would be nice for really heavy pr days.

My gym has a rack. I've made significant gains in the squat and dead lift, not so much shoulder press though, probably because I don't have 2.5lb plates. Do you guys have 2.5lb plates in your gym? Can you buy them off the internet in Korea?

Yeah, the press is always first to stall, because you have to lock out your triceps and that's the weakest link in the chain.

I managed to find in my uni guy 4 weight fasteners. 2 weighed 2 kilos, 2 weighed one kilo (i actually weighed them on the digital scale). I pop those on there when I can't advance with 2.5kg plates.

I'm sure you could buy 1kg weights the net though. I've heard of people using chains, and even dounuts used to weight baseball bats.

I really I wish I had a rack. Today I sort of had a lingering cold and I failed on my last power clean. Luckily the gym was empty.

Does your gym happen to be in Cheong-ju?

So far, I'm leaning with Itaewonguy.

I DO have a bottle of creatine...and I did start it once a year ago...but it made me feel so damn dehydrated, and wanting to piss a lot, and weird-feeling in general I stopped after a few days while still in the 'packing' stage.

Right now I feel I am making sizeable noticeable gains just by going to the gym...and if later I hit a plateau, maybe I'll start throught the stages of creatine again.

Anyways, that's how I'm feeling with this at this particular time.
