I've been happy with Avira and SUPERAntiSpyware free versions. You can get rid off the Avira pop up through the program files, avnotify, properties, security and then deny read access.

I run BitDefender Total Security and it's just awesome. I can't comment on the conflicts between BitDefender and some Korean sites as I don't use too many Korea sites but I can attest that BitDefender is the best I have ever used by far. Avast and AVG are good for the price (free) but can't compete with BD.

Avira and Nod32 for excellent virus protection if you wanna shell out cash.

i swear by avg free and spybot. 1 desktop and 2 laptops over the last 4-5 yrs. never had a problem. although i run the daily avg when i'm asleep, as it slows things down.

I use spybot and I like it but I wouldn't use it as a stand alone program. I would add on another anti-spyware program. I usually come up with nothing with spybot on my computer but occasionally get stuff with adaware.
although at the computer at work spybot picks up stuff that adaware did not get.

Avira Pro 8.2 worked really well: my machine ended up having a malware bug of some kind, and I think that's what was draining it so bad. I really thought the thing was on its last legs a couple of weeks ago, but now it's so nice and quiet and almost even fast!

I say just buy it, but why not try the full version first...
