I could be wrong, but I seem to recall Bure, Larionov, and ElMo playing pretty well past the five year mark. Not their best years of course, but still they made their teams better.
Even Val Bure had some good years in Florida, I think...
Anyway, I think Datsyuk will keep playing at a high level for many years yet. Hoping so anyway! |

Who's a finalist for the Hart trophy?
And the Selke trophy? again.
AND the Lady Byng trophy? (4th time)
Some stiff competition in all three categories but holy smoke! To be nominated in all three is saying something. Pavel has really turned some heads this year. He has flown under the radar for a long time but people are finally putting it together. His problem has been that, other than take-aways, he has never had a single really sexy, mind blowing statistic to point to. Instead EVERY aspect of his game has been merely great on a remarkably consistent basis. Which is what most of us are realizing is quite astounding. |

| I grew up watching Mario Lemieux....needless to say Datsyuk leaves me highly UNDERwhelmed. Above average is what I'd say about his puck handling. |

Here's a good breakdown on the Selke contenders from the good people at NHL.com...

Go Kesler! Though there's no question Datsyuk is fully deserving of the repeat vic.
Oops! That's a short article...I can't remember where I read the longer one. Think it's there someplace on NHL.com... |
