Bush had more than anything to do with this recession - further expansion of a growing deficit enhanced by the Iraq war.

I'm hoping for Obama to help pull us out of it, although his 'public works' campaign is too reminiscent of the depression-era TVA.

The main thing is that he'll mirror Clinton on streamlining government by adding industry and jobs thus increasing the tax rolls to get us back on track.

Bush was a waste of a presidency in my humble opinion.

The sad truth is this isn't truth. Look at Dallas, TX. It has the highest concentration of Christians in all of the US. But it's probably one of the worse cities to live in. Look at all of its major indexes and you will see that though Christians love God...they generally don't love their fellow people or environment.

My people die for a lack of knowledge. It has happened in the past and its going to happen again if their isn't a huge restoration of truth to the wider body of Christ.

W.W.J.A.?
(Who Would Jesus Armbar?)

That's a funny avatar image.

I agree about Dallas, but your second paragraph is totally confusing.

First, who are those you call "My people"? Christians or Americans?

Second, the last sentence seems to imply the "wider body of Christ" needs truth restored to it, implying it was not truthful to begin with. While that might be true, is this what you really meant?

I prayed really hard I wouldn't get laid off. It happened anyway.

Your statement is obscene.

Laughing

ontheway, as a professor of economics could you please verify for us the well-known rule that the prosperity of a country is directly proportional to its number of true Christians?

Thanks in advance.

God Bless/Damn America, I guess.

And whichever way it goes, you know you'll have the holy-rollers telling you "I told you so!! It's written in the Scripture!"

If America's Day is done, who's day is dawning?

China and India, I assume, although I haven't been to either country. The sleeping dragons have been waking up for a while.

Its pretty clear to me you're in no position to make a proper analysis.

Both the US and China are suffering from this economic crisis. China's primary advantage, its lack of debt and surplus reserves, are still too dependent upon the fate of the US for it to rest comfortable. And meanwhile China suffers from numerous disadvantages the US does not, for example: a declining birthrate, massive pollution, feudal poverty in the countryside, and an inflexible political system. The US' most substantial advantage is its flexible political system accompanied by the serendipitous timing of having a government transition within 100 days of the economic crisis. Whereas US President Barack Obama comes into power with a great deal of support, goodwill, and political capital, the CCP must focus its policies on retaining the support of the people and quelling unrest. China's massive reserves are held hostage to not one but two forces: its people's discontent and the inflation of the US dollar.

And we haven't even gotten into geopolitical landscape: the US must scale back its commitments halfway around the world, but even by 2015 its sphere of influence will still abut China's in the middle of the Strait of Taiwan, a mere timezone from Beijing.

The present crisis is a true challenge for the US, but its an absolute nightmare for China.
