The Peoples Army of (North) Korea has 1.2 Million soldiers ready to attack right now as we speak. There is another 7.7 Million in reserve, or ready to attack tomorrow.

The South Korean Army has 560,000 soldiers and another 25,000 Marines.
There only 4.5 Million in reserve.

I have seen the Marines, they are fit and ready to fight.
I cannot say the same for the Army.

I would predict 3 days before Daegu is taken.

How far it goes from there is dependent on intervention from other nations.

My feeling is that a part of the 4.5 Million reserve will jump the line in favor of unification at any cost.

I hope I am wrong.

From what I understand, the North Korean army is in a state of shambles. Very old equipment (probably in poor condition)... Very low fuel supplies.

So a conventional war would probably just turn into an Iraq style Turkey Shoot.

All this talk is just bluster to try to twist the west into giving them more aid.

The only way I could see the NORKS attacking is if Dear Leader wanted to go out in style and leave his mark on history in a big way. It would be total suicide for the NORKS to attack.

North Korea can't invade South Korea but they can destroy Seoul with artillery and missiles.

North Korea doesn't have a country worth saving.

They are threatening a suicide attack.

As I said there is a answer for North Korea

Nuclear weapons would cause too much radiation poisoning.

But there is a weapons system that if deployed would bring North Korea and Iran to their knees.

What do people think would happen in NK after regime-change? No way could the US occupy the country, not with millions of guns lying around and a population that's been trained to hate the very sight of US soldiers. South Korea MIGHT have better chances, but with the local and global economy the way it is, I don't know if they're gonna wanna dunp a lot of money and resources into that kind of enterprise.

The only country I could imagine having any usable inroads would be China. But from what I've heard, despite being propped up by Beijing's charity, the KJI regime does not exactly encourage its citizens to regard the Chinese as their blood-brothers. There are stories about women in the border regions being forced to have abortions because the fetus was half-Chinese, that sort of thing. So I don't know if the PLA would be welcomed with flowers and candy by the entire population, either.

So, any Korea-hawks care to speculate about the post-game strategy with us?

That technology is at least 15 years away from being ready

You are correct , on the other hand it took the US 25 years to get missile defense going. Such a system is probably easier than missile defense. It will also require a similar investment. However Iran has been a problem for 30 years and North Korea has been a problem for almost 60 years. This will be the end game for both of them.

We'd flatten the Norks within 24 hours with ICBM's. Nuked or not would depend on...which way the wind is blowing that day. Doesn't mean 10 million South Koreans won't get killed by the shelling though. I'd s*it my pants if I lived in Gyeonggido and the North attacked.
