Yeah, you're right about that.

I guess Mipo Dockyard are the only club technically based in Gyeongnam, although they now play their home matches in Ulsan, at the Munsu Auxiliary Stadium.

It amuses me that koreans suddenly think they're the best in the world at soccer, like they've been playing it for centuries and know everything about the game. I asked my boss i'f he used to play soccer at school, he replied proudly "of course! All koreans can play soccer!!"
As if...their world cup success was a fluke thanks to a European coach. My kids can't even kick a ball, and they have only one song to sing at matches "Be the reds'.. Puleeeeaaasse!
Its all dood fun though I guess!

I agree that to think Korean soccer(football) being at world class is too early. They need more on everything : clubs, players, coaches, leagues, and fans!

But just because the kids you know don't know how to kick a ball, I doesn't mean Koreans love football. Actually they loved this sport more in the past. Before baseball was introduced and well before basketball was introduced football(and boxing) was the favorite sport for decades.

Have you heard of Kung-Pyung football match? It was an anual clash between Seoul and PyongYang team when there were no regular pro league. They have a culture to focus on National Team at WorldCup and Olympic qualifyings. You really can't blame them for not accomplishing much if you consider the infrastucture and the physical conditions of Korean players back then(they were so small). But the 'Be the Red' tradition was surely building itself already!

I think Korean football is at the verge of becoming something different from what they have been doing. I'm no expert but as a Korean football fan for the past 20 years I think the playing style itself have changed dramatically because more 'real players' with ball keeping abilities have been added(we all know how they freezed with a ball before). Let's say a system, though not sufficient enough, which could provide those kind of players have been set at last!

You sure can mock at some 'over enthusiasts'(I do that too!). But a little patience is no harm. Wink

Zico said after that game, if we win every game 1-0 then we are in the world cup. basically he doesn't care how they win, a win is a win.

Guys any chance of a little more info on this: I've only nailed one channel for footy and thats ESPN. Is there a channel that covers La Liga?

iTV broadcast every PSV game, most of the Feyenoord matches and also show some other Dutch games, as well as the odd Argentine match.
Arirang shows a "Global Football" show once or twice a week.

One or more of the main Korean channels (KBS1&2, SBS, SBS Sports etc) show football at various times. I don't know that there is a channel that shows Spanish football in its entirety...
