Just for fun and because I liked them so much I'll describe a standard chapter in a superkids series book. first two pages are a sort of comic layout with three or four dialogues and a scene related to whatever topic the chapter will be about (ranging from colors to world fairs depending on the number in the series). all along the bottom are some target vocabs for your kids with handy little drawings that are pretty good at illustrating the meaning of the vocabs. There are a few exercises, like listen and repeat (to the incredibly catchy music of the CD mind you; you will not be able to refrain from rocking out). There's a listen and number, there is a story describing the scene in the picture and there are dialogues for the students to listen and repeat as well. I usually insert a role play in there. Next page is a description of actions then a chant or a song or something. Next page is forming dialogues with the target vocabs, then conversing with a partner. kids who can't read when they get into the class can usually do these by the second month or so. next page is usually some phonics ranging in difficulty- in the upper levels it gets a little too simple (number 5), so I skip it. there are then some reading and writing exercises, and the whole chapter usually finished with some simple game. It comes with its own workbook which I barely touch, and there are tons of ways you can incorperate learning games with the target vocabs or dialogues. It's a kick a$$ series, check it out. And no, i don't work for them.
