This is not Canadian culture. This is Canadian SUB-culture. Unfortunately they tend to be far more vocal than the silent majority...I'll give you that...

Thank you for meeting me halfway, then. And of course you are right. You, Bulsajo, Mindmetoo, others. And that is just here on this website.

But why deprive me of the simple pleasure of painting an entire culture and nation-state with one, broad brush just to antagonize the bastards? So few such pleasures remain, you know. And this one is free...

you obviously havent been to Canada. We are not easily mobilized, most in fact have never protested anything beyond a bad meal or some sub-par drycleaning. how can you tell you are at a Canadian protest? everyone looks slightly embarrassed to be seen there.

Right. The Canadians-are-really-shy-polite-and-nonassertive stereotype that Canadians here and elsewhere employ when talking about themselves. Maybe you are only looking at the ones -- the majority? -- who get high everyday...?

Then there are all of these loud, sanctimonious, confrontational, self-opinionated, obnoxious Canadians all over this messageboard and typically stumbling drunk all over Itaewon and other South-Korean streets, usually urinating on said streets, too. And in Canada, now they mimick Middle Easterners and throw shoes at foreign political leaders who fail their ideological-purity test.

They Canadians Urban Myth references surely exist. But we rarely if ever hear about their politics and/or worldviews.

It is your prerogative to be willfully obtuse and miss the point.

Anyway, how different do you think Canadian cops are from American ones? In my world travels and experience (this includes Communist Cuba), I have found there is a certain cop mentality that is remarkably similar. (South Korea may be an exception here. They have been essentially invisible except for that time they appeared appropriately on the scene of a traffic accident in which I was involved.)

Yes, but you are a hippy.
Do you not watch southpark at all?
Some people on South Park Hate hippies.
Hippies only deserve to smoke pot and have
plenty of snacks to go along with their smoking.
Given enough snacks and green tube hippies become harmless
and typically spend their days sleeping eating or high.
Please sir go back to hippy land, I support your right to bear hookahs.

And yes, I WAS at Woodstock.

And that's still a pretty psychedelic avatar.

What the heck IS your point then? Seriously, the title was about Canadians protesting Bush. But this incident has nothing to do with Bush, so why mention it?

So you admit you're nothing but a troll who likes to antagonize people because of the simple pleasure it gives you?

Then you cherry-picked and highlighted this out of the fifth paragraph:
Quote:
A Calgary police spokeswoman said one protestor had been charged with obstruction and assaulting a policeman.

So I pointed out how easy it is to get arrested and/or set up by cops ANYWHERE, under ANYONE.

THAT was the point.

Ah...you see, I was under the apparently mistaken impression that your point had something to do with the thread title (CANADIANS shoeing BUSH). My bad.

Since you apparently missed it, I'll point it out again:

It had everything to do with the thread title. This protestor was Canadian and was protesting against Bush...which is what the thread title was all about.
