I think he was being extremely polite. The TSA used foul language, didn't know Mr. Bierfeldt's rights and refused to inform him of his rights when he asked. He maintained his cool throughout and was even gracious when the ordeal was finished. It sounded like he even made his flight on time, even though he spent the greater part of a half hour doing his part to keep America free.

This is what legal experts say to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8z7NC5sgik&feature=related

Too many cops do this: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-texas-profiling11-2009mar11,0,507135.story

Is the TSA still hiring from the bottom percentile of people not qualified to be mall security guards? Yes, the TSA, when they're not robbing you blind they're holding up 800+ people to force an elderly woman with polio to stand up so they can prove her crutches are necessary.

This may be the problem. . .

Something those working in Korea or other countries outside the west understand that $4700 is not a lot of money- even in cash. Usually folks here will travel with a thousand or two when they take a trip- far more than an American.

This reminds me of the early days of the 2nd Iraqi war where a US Soldier took a measly $2000 in cash from an Iraqi citizen because it was suspicious.

That soldier can not probably imagine having $10 bucks on him and not being also overdrawn at the bank, much less having two grand on him.

A cultural clash in other words.

Those morons at the airport probably didn't have fifty bucks between all of them, no wonder considering their apparent IQ.

Take some time and learn about the evil US government:

This innocent man was illegally detained by agents of the fascist-socialist government of the United States.

As the former US Federal judge, the representative from the ACLU and Peter Schiff have explained on the program: The US government and its agents have no authority to stop you or ask questions about your money or where you got it or why you have it or what you will do with it.

By doing this, the cops became criminals.

These cops are pigs. They should be arrested, tried and imprisoned for illegal arrest.

The minimum term for such actions by government employees should be 5 years in a maximum security lockup.

"This innocent man was illegally detained by agents of the fascist-socialist government of the United States."

Word. Quite the comment, but I am outraged by this behavior.

Any follow up story about the event? Were the airport employees disiplined?
