| For one thing, we'd have more Cubans playing major league baseball. |

Whatever you think about Obama and his left-leaning critics in Latin America, speaking in terms of political strategy, the POTUS is playing his cards quite well on this.
After Daniel Ortega's 50-minute speech denouncing American influence in the region, Obama was asked for his response, to which he replied "It was 50 minutes long. That's what I thought".
Of course this is being portrayed on the right-wing blogs as...
Obama refuses to defend US from Marxist tirade
But seriously. Anyone with half a brain for tactics knows the value of playing it cool when confronted with an emotional and long-winded adversary. |

Good for him. I like the indifference in those words. He's going around LA "listening" but not taking seriously all he is hearing.
The Argentine leader lectured him. Ha. |

I love what Obama had to say the other day.

| Venezuela is a country whose defense budget is probably 1/600th of the United States. They own Citgo. Its unlikely that as a consequence of me shaking hands or having a polite conversation with Mr. Chavez that we are endangering the strategic interests of the United States. I dont think anybody can find any evidence that that would do so. Even within this imaginative crowd, I think you would be hard-pressed to paint a scenario in which U.S. interests would be damaged as a consequence of us having a more constructive relationship with Venezuela. |
"Imaginative crowd". Heh. |

Venezuela will give a 300-acre island in the Delaware River to the state of New Jersey, the governor's office announced.
The Venezuelan-owned Citgo Petroleum Corp. had bought Petty's Island -- between Camden, New Jersey, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania -- to use as a fuel storage facility.
The island is home to a pair of American bald eagles as well as several great blue herons and state-endangered black-crowned night herons, New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine said in a news release Wednesday.
Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez announced the island's transfer as part of Wednesday's Earth Day celebrations. Plans are being finalized for the transition, which will not occur before 2020, Corzine's office said. |
