Hey guys I need some help.
I just upgraded my internet connection here in Korea from a 3mbps (300k download speed maximum)
To a 100mb connnection (...don't even ask)
So like since I've had it, I've been worse off, seriously.
My surfing speeds are slow, download speeds REALLY vary. One day I can be downloading at 20kbps, others 500kbps, hell one time I even saw 1.5mbps.
Now I understand we run on cable here and I'm really not expecting to be downloading at a 10mbps all the time but this really isn't what I expected.
Any advice? Anyone have a 100mb connection that could give a bit of help?
I'm running through a D-Link router (I've tried without the router too), I've tried both Wired and Wireless and same result. |
Your problem is the Dlink router as it has a firewall built in. That is why you get the poor performance.
I am on KT and had all sorts of slowness with my dlink not changing configuration settings and it refused to open up ports. i use a new router with a free through connection (all ports open) and I get 100Mb/sec -- usually topped out at 80-85Mbs. Fastest download speed has more to do with the hosts speed than yours. The maximum I have seen the speed on a download was from apple @ 45.6Mb/sec. I did a 2.2Gb download update in under 1 minute actually (47seconds). Amazing speed! |

wow lol...thanks for the 5 same replies and stuff lol. Well I'm pretty sure i've tried connected without the router to no avail...
I'm at work now using their connection, I don't know what speed it is but I'm getting generally the same performance which makes me wonder if it's a setting on my laptop which needs to be changed. |

| Feah, this is a little off topic, but I just bought a d link dir 300 and the instructions are in Korean. Can you help me by taking screenshots of the web gui setup and emailing them to me at <EDIT>? Any help would be appreciated. Also, you might want to check this out if you think your router is the problem: <http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page>. DD WRT is a way to make a cheap router into a very expensive one, and a lot of d links are supported. |
