But, as one previous poster pointed out, Koreans don't really have Christmas like we do in the west. Hell, I knew kids in high school who got trips to Europe as a Christmas present. And even those from less prosperous backgrounds usually managed to rake in at least a few hundred dollars worth of presents.

Agreed. I notice kids back home here have a lot more toys than Korean kids ever did. My nieces' and nephews' rooms were mostly covered in textbooks, not Xboxes, endless wardrobes and great A/V systems.
