Amped I found this thread while Googling... Let's do this. My skate is the only thing that will get me through the year long SK flat spell. Skating is reliable while surfing here is not so i've heard. I am 34 and a skateboard has been a source of fun and transportation on and off since 14 yrs. old. If growing up means quitting the things that get me through all the b.s. then kill me now. Looking for half pipes and drained pools when I arrive (don't know where yet) in October...

I think I saw one in the 만석 공원 but it was dark so I'm not sure.

Mithrae.... you are a pathetic piece of loser probably overweight, clumsy. lacking any physical ability trolling douchebag. Why comment on something you have no interest in? Your athletic skills faded with youth (i doubt you had any)... maybe you are still a youngen? Too bad you are a kook. Haters get no respect and skaters don't look for any, so shut the f up. You must have been the awkward kid back home (Douchebag-ville?) who got hazed because you rode rollerblades with full pads and constantly on your ass. You are a sad soul... I hope you can at least fool a few K-girls to give you some self worth.

I don't skate but I can respect an older cat givin' it a go. I recommend taking a ride out to Songdo, past Incheon. We have 3 skate areas, of varying sizes and they have ZERO kids riding them. The giant 1/2 pipe is odd that it does not have a channel or ladder. You have to earn your drop ins.

yo, can anyone tell me where i can pick up a decent complete at? skateboards are heavy and US flight weight limits suck, so it had to go :c\ how much do they run for here? or would it just be smarter/easier to have my other deck shipped to me from home? i'm kind of one of those immediate gratification people though, haha
this thread has been a godsend everyone! i say we all go and (attempt to) shred some of these parks! haha

thanks in advance!

dude, u should just try and bring ur board from home along with u. u can take it as a carryon, put it underneath the seat. completes here will run u about $50 bucks more than what u are used to. and the selection isnt nearly as good. ditto on skate shoes.....

edit: for what its worth, i also am an instant grat. person. and when i first went to itaewon on my first weekend here, i bought a complete at tussa. got a girl deck with venture trucks (the only two decent things imo), toy machine wheels, and pig bearings. it cost around 230k....way too much...but i was overjoyed with seeing a skateshop and since i didnt bring mine...i just had too.

jeez, 230k? i'm already here so it's too late to bring it as carry on >.< i didn't think i'd end up skating that much since i didn't skate too much during college, but now that i know there's a park around the corner, i'm itching to go, haha. where about is this tussa place? are they like everywhere else in korea where you can haggle? cash discount 있아요? haha

tussa is at the end of the main street. like if u exit the subway at itaewon, head towards mcdonalds and just keep going a little bit. its on the corner on the second floor. as for haggling, i dunno. lol. i was literally too excited at the thought of buying my skateboard and at the time i had a lot of extra money from the 'rents so i didnt care to try.

if u are in the gyeonggi-do area tho, i suggest u go down to pyeongtaek, there is another skateshop there called murasaki sports. its a lot bigger and nicer. they not only have skateboarding stuff, but they have surfing and snowboarding stuff if ur into that. also they have a minipipe right behind the store Smile

edit: these are there websites. the stuff on the sites are essentially exactly what they have in the stores. http://tussamall.com/ http://murasakisports.co.kr/

so i ended up hitting up Tussa, and it wasn't too badly priced. i got a complete with a shop board and ventures for like 166k, and it was only like an extra 20k for a prodeck, but the shop blanks felt pretty sturdy so i saved a few. the only thing i was disappointed about was the biggest non longboard wheels they had was 54mm, i woulda liked something bigger, given all the freaking brick sidewalks in this country, but i'll take what i can get.
shopkeeper was really cool, his english wasn't the best, but i had a buddy with me to help translate. he gave me this site, http://theskeit.com/ it's got a bunch of skate spots with pictures posted. pretty sweet little thing. he said most parks require a helmet, if there is some one there watching it at least. but apparently street skating is hassle free :c)

i just bought a new deck, after i broke a 2 day old element "helium" board POS, at 3vic. its in kangnam. pro board for 89k thats pretty close to US prices. they only carry boards from dwindle (almost, enjoi, blind) but luckily the former two are my favorite brands heheh

if anyone else is in the Ilsan area, i'll probably be hitting up the park out in Daewha, hopefully this saturday. the pictures from theskeit show little kids without helmets, so hopefully no ajumma's will be there to hassle me if i do the same
