Yet you still didn't answer my question. At least foreigners, even illegal aliens, can get things like a cell phone, an international bank card, and even own homes and businesses with relative ease in the highly foreigner unfriendly US.

Now, once again.......why do Koreans colonize pretty much every country in the world yet hate it when foreigners reside in their holyland? It's a valid question.

I would guess that the Koreans colonizing the world are mostly not the same Koreans as those who hate foreigners living in Korea. This is nearly 50 million people you're lumping under the same umbrella.

Things aren't perfect here for foreigners for sure, but immigration to Korea is a relatively new thing. The U.S. is made up almost entirely of immigrants. Give them a few years.

I definitely agree. You can't compare the immigration situation in Korea to the immigration situation in the U.S. I think alot of us (especially North Americans) are spoiled when it comes to racial and cultural sensitivity. We've been brought up in a place where political correctness is uber-enforced to the point where we are so shocked when confronted with blatant, casual racism. The fact is, the U.S. has had to deal with race and immigration issues for the entirety of its existence. Over time, you build up a little sensitivity to it. Everywhere else in the world, immigration is new, foreigners are new, and they haven't yet dealt much with the question of race relations and political correctness. So yeah, of course there's going to be alot more displays of ignorance. You can't hold them up to the North American standards of hyper-political correctness and racial sensitivity.

Common sense: America has always been viewed as a beacon of light. Canada to a leser extent etc... America was built by immigrants and their policy encourages immigration as long as people have money and skills to offer. This is perhaps not as prevalent these days but it's not as if the Americans have a policy in place banning immigrants. Korea, as of the last few years, has experienced a boom. Korea is finally opening it's doors and globalizing, they signed an FTA agreement with the US etc so it's normal that more and more foreigners are coming in. And of course tons of E2 visas per the English teaching boom. Korea is catching up. I's not as bad as it used to be. Some conutries are worse. I agree that it'll only get better in a few years. It ain't 'sparlking' that's for sure. Don't forget Korea is a young democracy. It's even considered by some to be a developing country... still. I ain't an apologist and I hear what some of you are saying. Dave's is a good place to come and rant, why not? ut consider taking adeep breath before postin something. Koreans are trying to cacth up as things happen so quickly with regrads to everything. Blame it on the lack of infrastrucure or a solid system or whatever. Patience is a virtue.
