24hours from kick off... machida's list of opponents is beyond impressive... this might be his edge in the fight.

no doubt, what was evans doing when machida closed the distance after the first strike or two--yapping instead of letting his hands do the talking? looked like he was yelling something and machida busted him in the chops while his mouth was gaping then the final left to the chin did the job. too bad evans came to dance and talk, what a way to lose the title.

From what he said in the post-fight interview, I think that Evans realized going in that he faced an opponent who might be too clever and explosive for him to handle.

He probably used the dancing strategy to present Machida with something a little different, but he couldn't effectively counter his perfectly-timed quick strikes.

I doubt that Evans was verbally taunting near the end - he was probably talking to himself.

When Joe Rogan asked him how he felt, he replied "... a little dizzy".

I think if he had aggressively rushed Machida at the start he probably would have gotten KO'd earlier, but he also may have had a better chance to land a KO punch of his own.

evans has a history of doing the dancing/taunting thing... after seeing him on the ultimate fighter (season 2), you realize he's only doing it to have fun. in this case, he did it with his hands down, while lyoto was going in for the kill.

good point. i agree... being more aggressive was his only chance... i think no matter how you prepare, machida's style is just so hard to train and strategize for..

Yeah, Muhammad Ali sometimes taunted and danced with his hands held low, but that only worked when he was much faster than his opponent (and in boxing you don't have to defend against kicks.)

Evans should have known not to try that against Machida - unless he was confident that he could beat him to the punch (or kick)
