I don't have any advice for you, MattHart09, except to never take the verbal word of an immigration agent.

Everyone wondering about a multiple entry visa, register at hikorea.go.kr and you can see all your visa info as immigration has it. If you do need a multiple entry permit you can apply there in a couple minutes.

Sorry to kind of hijack the thread guys but I am in a bit of a pickle. I went to China last week and I only have a single entry Visa. Upon leaving Korea immigration did not even give me the option to pay 30,000 for the single entry permit. The lady took my ARC and said to pay when I came back from China. When I came back from China I told the guy at immigration this and he pretended as if he had never heard of it before. I kept demanding it and eventually he said his English wasen't good enough and gave me a number to call. Needless to say they weren't much help either. Any idea what I could do in my situation? Immigration still has my ARC

When you handed in your ARC at passport control you effectively canceled your E2.

When you re-entered you would have been given a B1/B2 (3-6 month validity - depending on your nationality) entry stamp.

Now you are faced with the task of applying for a new E2 (with ALL the documents again).

|There is NO other option for you at this time because you did leave without a re-entry permit and you DID hand in your ARC.

Sorry.

As they say, ignorance of the law is no excuse and not knowing about your rights and the requirements of your visa is also no excuse - so don't get caught working on your B visa.

You cannot get a multiple re-entry visa at the Incheon airport. I went through this problem last Sunday when leaving for my vacation. Maybe they used to give multiples, but no more...I asked.

You can buy a single re-entry for 30K won and it took about 5 minutes.

Just curious if anyone knows if you can get the single reentry Visa in advance of going on a trip. I am going to Japan at the end of July and wanted to get it done early so y flight day is a little less stressful. I know I can do this with immigration, but I can't make it there during business hours. So I guess is it possible to get it done early at the airport? Thanks!!

I got a single re-entry at Incheon before I left for Shanghai on December 28, 2009. I am looking at it now and it says re-entry into the Republic of Korea until 2010 Jan31. That's over 30 days. So no, getting it early should be no problem. Coming back late would be.

BTW, it cost me 30,000won.

Yes, you CAN get it early by making a quick visit to your local immigration office and making the application. 30k won, your passport and ARC are required.

done, while you wait.

The other option is to do it at the airport - the immigration office is open from 6am -10pm every day and it usually takes 30 minutes or less to get done.

Is there any way to apply for a single re-entry permit at Incheon without an ARC?

I have an E2 visa, and am still in the USA, and I arrive in Korea Feb. 11th. On the 13th, I am flying out of Korea for a week and will return on the 20th. I do not think there is any way for me to obtain an ARC in such little time, and therefore I do not know if I will be able to get a re-entry permit.

Can anyone help me with this situation?

Thanks,

Josh

Coming from the states you MAY have a multi-entry visa. If that is the case then you have no worry.

IF you do NOT have a multi-entry visa then there is NO chance of getting a re-entry permit until you get an ARC (never could get a re-entry permit without an ARC).

Choices are:

a) Cancel/delay your trip out of the country until after you can get your ARC,
b) Fly there directly and come to Korea AFTER that trip is completed.
c) Come to Korea as planned but do not "enter" Korea (do not go through passport control).

i) Stay inside the airport, go to the transit desk and change your flight to 2 days earlier and enjoy your break before you start work or
ii) just enjoy the transit lounges and the (rather expensive) transit hotel for 2 days before you continue your trip.

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately that is not what I wanted to hear, but it was pretty much what I was expecting. I am coming from the US, but it says single entry on my visa. I am going to call the consulate Monday, but I am not too hopeful.

Thanks for putting my options up there also, I am weighing them all out adn trying to decide what I am going to do.

ttompatz - One more thing I was thinking of. Since I already booked my plane tickets, do you think there would be any way I could show the immigrations officer my itinerary and have them stamp just my passport as a tourist visa(not involving my E2) and upon my exit of Korea the tourist visa will be completed? Then when I re-enter a week later they can stamp my actual E2 visa?

Just wishful thinking.

Can't happen if you already have a visa in your passport.

Thanks man, that's what I wanted to know. I am going to call the Embassy and Consulate Monday to see if there is anything they can do. Thanks for all the info!
