| I can't imagine dropping $8000 US on an engagement ring. So many better uses for that money. Good luck with your predicament though. |

I figured they might do resizing...guess they make enough bucks raping Koreans on their prices, so they don't need the extra business of resizing. |
Actually, I found their resizing policy a bit cheap. I believe you have a set time frame (something like a couple of months) after purchase where you can get it resized once for free. But after that it gets pricey.
Also I asked for a matching ring box for the wedding band (which cost close to $5K for their platinum "eternity" ring (had diamonds all the way around it)) and they wouldn't give me one. Given how we spent enough on an engagement ring and wedding bands to buy a nice car, I thought Tiffany's was being pretty anal about giving us an extra ring box.
Oh well. If that Debeers settlement money ever comes though, I'm gonna spend it on something crazy.

Good luck on the lawsuit. I guess if oil companies can fix the price and run it together like a monopoly, why not diamonds? I refuse to buy diamonds due to the fact they are worth a fraction of what De Beers would have women believe. I hope one day they get what is coming to them! |

I know; like his and her Omega Speedmasters
Forgive the pride of a husband, but when my wife told me she didn't want diamonds, that cubics were good enough as she would probably lose the ring, then I knew I had the right girl! However, saying that, she does love those Italian bags |

Hey there. I know this is pretty old now, but did you find anywhere to resize your ring? I'm in the EXACT same predicament and need to find somewhere FAST.
Thanks |

Yeah, still married and going strong. I was quoted like 200,000 from other places to resize my ring, but they wanted to keep it overnight. I didn't trust them as I believe its too easy for them to switch diamonds on me. He also did it for like 60,000 won I believe.
So I found this guy, and he said that I could sit and watch him if I didn't trust him. He even ordered milkshakes to be delivered to us while we watched.
The guy is a real craftsman, you'll see his place... its super tiny, but his tools look like they've been past down generations.

this is where you go to get your stuff resized or anything custom made.
He even gives you cash for any left over platinum or he gives you the hunk back to you.
Hope this helps. |

Oh yeah, for all you guys saying $8000 is too much to pay for a ring... it's a small price to pay for a lifetime of contentment.
Believe me, if you skimp out in the beginning... you'll never hear the end of it. A diamond is forever... and so is a nagging wife... damn right. |

The best wayto buy an engagement ring is to get the diamond online from an reputable online shop (Bluenile).
Made sure it is certified with either GIA or AGS.
Get the band from Tiffany's or wherever you fancy. |

My ring was platinum, which is why i specifically sought out a craftsman who works in platinum.
He removed the diamond and resized the ring and placed it back on right in front of me... all for around 60,000 won.
and for the post above yours... that's exactly what I did... i bought my ring from bluenile.com... you don't have to buy just a diamond... but the setting it's not that expensive and it saves the hassle. |
