| Hmmm... how important will that 39 minute last wicket stand be come the end of the series? If I was Ponting I would be livid about that one getting away. |
yeah, for sure.
i turned the computer off when collingwood went out because it was late and i assumed we would win!
never saw the last 40 mins. who would have thought monty and anderson would survive the last 11 overs on a 5th day pitch? the ball was relatively new as well.
bloody hell!
imagine that happening a few short years back. never. the poms wouldve been out by mid afternoon.
this series might be one of the closest ever. |

I think we'll (Australia) take a lot out of that result. This was a pitch that was not meant to suit us and somehow our fast men made it work for them and the newly dubbed "Hurricane" showed what an underrated bowler he really is.
I still think he may get dropped for Lords though. |

| Australia looks terrible. Johnson is woefully out of form, Hiffs and Siddle are English bowling conditions newbies, Lee is injured, the spinner is SHITE, Hughes is struggling, and in short it's going to be hard for the Aussies to take 20 wickets. Added to that the Poms are cheating bastards. Yes I'm a sore loser. |

well, to be fair it was a great toss to win, considering the weather conditions.
but that goes nowhere near explaining it. this is what was feared would happen in cardiff. the pommie seamers are very good. if harmison was playig they would be even better maybe.
cardiff pitch didnt do anything much at all, so we were able to make the 600 runs.
but i think the main trouble is that our team is nowhere near what it was and wont be for a long long time. our batters cant bat like the old team can. before if we were 4 for 100, no problem, we would end up with 400 anyway because we had at least 6 star players. they were champions. if not, didnt matter, our bowlers were some of the best in history.
not anymore.
we cant play like we did before because we just aint got the cattle anymore.
and ponting needs to stop whinging...
if we can win the ashes this time, i think it would be one of the greatest wins

LONDON - Ricky Ponting accused England of lack of cricketing spirit with their cynical time-wasting tactics to cling on for a first-Test draw in the Ashes, but his England counterpart Andrew Strauss refuted the claim saying his teams intentions were good and not deliberate.
A furious Ponting flayed Englands move to send physiotherapist Steve McCaig and an acting 12th man onto the field with gloves for tailender Jimmy Anderson as he and No. 11 Monty Panesar batted out a tense draw.
Ponting was quoted in the Australian media as saying with time ticking down and only seven minutes left, it was a clear delaying tactic that Ponting claimed was pretty ordinary and not in the spirit of the game.
I didnt see him (Anderson) call for any physio to come out on the ground as far as Im concerned it was pretty ordinary actually, Ponting insisted.
I think he changed his glove the over before. Im not sure if his gloves were going to be too sweaty in one over?
But they can play whatever way they want to play. We came to play by the rules and the spirit of the game, its up to them to do what they want to do."
Like I said, I'm a sore loser. Australia completely dominated that game and to not win by 1 wicket is very hard to take, especially now they are getting their collective butts kicked. |

SHITHOUSE decisions by the umpire.
one a no ball and the other htt the ground. did strauss cheat? we'll never know for sure, but the bloody 3rd umpire should have been used. why have it if you dont use it.
no excuse for the umpire missing the no ball.
ponting has real reasons to whinge this time! hope he doesnt too much though. |

Drop Johnson, he's a waste of space at the moment. Hopefully Lee is ready and can bowl quick with reverse swing.
The bowling is the problem, they had ample time to win the first test and they couldn't. England were never under threat by our bowlers in the 2nd test. They won't win the series unless they can learn to bowl under these conditions.
Too many rookies but losing 4 top order batsmen due to poor umpiring doesn't help too. |
