| Mir lost so much weight since a while ago! I don't like Lesnar at all but damn he whipped Mir's ass. |

Just got back from the fights. Man, that was something. I'll admit, I'm biased towards GSP. But Alvez really did hang in there. I'm surprised he lasted until the last round. Some of those take-downs were brutal.
Aw man, but Lesnar... what a jerk. I really don't like him. Yeah, he one and all, but man... arrogant, stereotypical, idiot.
Also, did anyone else catch the Andrea Boccelli that Akiyama was playing? Now THAT I didn't see coming. I love Boccelli though... just unexpected to hear at UFC. |

Come on now. There IS a reason for Lesnar's behavior. Mir has been verbally jabbing at him since their last fight--which I don't think is really merited considering the circumstances of the bout. I'll concede that Lesnar could have handled the whole thing a bit better, but I don't think badly of him at all. Did he act disrespectfully towards Couture or any of his other opponents? No. If I was in Brock's position, I for sure would have also said, "Now you can talk all the trash you want." If you dish out disrespect, don't get mad if you get it back on top of a beating.
Now Frank Mir is THE ULTIMATE arrogant piece of $#*%.
Akiyama is one cool dude. I've loved all his fights. |

Lesnar may have been led to think that playing a WWE style heel would generate more publicity and PPV sales - which it might - but his (in-ring) post-fight outbursts didn't help efforts to promote MMA as a legitimate professional sport in places like NY (where it's still illegal.)
UFC brass looking for more corporate sponsors were probably also not pleased by his dissing Bud Lite.
So, while he showed strong control of his body and mind during his match, he couldn't control his big mouth at all when it was over.
However, when interviewed by the MMA Live crew from ESPN some time after that, he acted more mature and apologized (especially to Bud Lite) for his behavior.

It's amazing that George St. Pierre was able to be so technically dominant even after tearing his groin in the 3rd round... |

Torres said Brock was a dictator for the sport. Haha.
That drop punch on Bisping by Hendo after he knocked him out already was nasty. |

Yeah, you have a point. I guess it was just he could've dealt with it a bit better. Not a fan of how he acted (though what he said he'd do that night was pretty funny). I have no problem with him fighting. I mean, he fought and won. It was good. Just his attitude that bothered me about it. I would've been the same way with Mir had he behaved that way that night as well.
And yes, Akiyama is now my hero. Especially for playing that song because I love it. His fight was fun to watch (actually they all were that night).

I was quite shocked as well. Now, I'm not a guy, so I don't know much about that injury but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that a lot of people would've slowed down a bit on that kind of injury.

Damn yes. My friend and I cringed just seeing that. It was quite a beautiful punch though. |

Hell yeah did it generate more sales/publicity. Doesn't bad blood ALWAYS generate more sales/publicity? Ali v. Frazier for example? The UFC also knows this, which is why they aired Lesnar and Mir's verbal barbs on the air during Countdown to UFC 100. Brock pretty much said the same kinds of things, in fact, he talked about that "golden horseshoe" several times and even punched a door off its hinges.
Regarding the Bud Lite issue, I personally don't feel Lesnar's dis would affect the UFC's attractiveness to sponsors. Any sponsor with "half a brain cell" (Bisping so glad Hendo shut him up) with products consumed by males 18+ would see the UFC as a promotion with huge potential. It's getting more mainstream with every card Joe Silva stacks. If one fighter jokes about Bud Light, who cares? I was watching the event at Dave & Buster's and as soon as Lesnar started talking about Coors, everyone started ordering beers.
But yeah, GSP showed that he's true champion material. He looked like he was in extreme pain post-decision. Although Alves didn't exactly make it that hard, considering he lacked any offensive ground game at all. All GSP needed to do to secure the fight was sit on him/attempt submissions/ground and pound on the ground. Takedowns sure were easy enough--and those nullified Alves' greatest asset: his leg kicks. The difference in reach essentially stuffed any of Alves' punches and he's not good enough yet to throw smarter punches: different angles/overhead.
I actually think Alves' ability, after cutting considerable weight, to constantly explode his way off the ground on pure strength was probably equally amazing as GSP's ability to continue fighting with the injury. The guy could not be held down. He is incredibly strong--I used to think Matt Hughes held the Welterweight division down in strength, but Alves is truly a beast.
What a sweet, sweet night it was. Bisping's little pester-and-retreat ass finally got served back to him. He's like one of those tiny dogs that bite at your ankles. It looks like he doesn't belong in the upper echelon. Henderson's chin and wrestling essentially reduced Bisping's paths to a victory to one: technical points. And there's no way an aggressive fighter like Henderson would allow that to happen. Kind of a one-sided fight now that I think of it. |

It was very nice to see Bisping lose in dramatic fashion. One of the most overhyped fighters in history.
Who is left in the welterweight division for GSP?? I think the next logical step would be a superfight against Anderson Silva.
Akiyama won a close fight but I think it would be best for him to drop down to welterweight.
Would love for the UFC to sign Fedor. Fedor v.s Brock would be the biggest fight in history.
Dana White wants to sign Fedor |

1) am i the only one who thought the decision would go the other way in the akiyama fight?
2) i was also disappointed with lesnar's post-fight behavior. he usually seems like a pretty level-headed guy, but he kinda lost it yesterday (despite joe rogan trying to get him back on track in the interview). as others have said though, mir has been prodding at lesnar since their fight however long ago, so i don't hold it against him too much.

Decisions can always go either way (most experts I heard didn't think Akayama had done enough to win.)
Matches would probably take longer, but I think they should continue untl somebody is knoced-out or quits. |

There's too much potential earning for all involved for that not to become a reality.
Fedor has taken on bigger, faster, and stronger guys than Lesnar, but I don't think he's ever taken on anyone that combines all three as explosively as he does. I would pick Fedor 2/3 times, but Lesnar might be strong and fast enough to knock him out. |
