Today during lunch there was no teacher in the 6th grade class for 15 minutes and during that time a fight broke out and lines were being drawn between factions.

Everytime I see classes without teachers they resemble Lord of the Flies.

Just be careful that the boys don't cut themselves during your classes, or you're responsible. Summer camp 2 years ago, I had finished a class, & went out for a 10 minute break. When I got near the classroom on my return, the female students were crying, & frantic. One of the boys, who had been running & chasing another boy, had smashed the glass panel in the door, & cut his arm badly. I gave them some bandaids that I had in my drawer, for paper cuts, (my students during classes scream at the sight of blood), & the other students escorted him to the hospital, which was almost next door to the school.

I then rang my coteacher & kept them up to date with developments. I heard much later, that the parents didn't blame me, & knew that their child was hyperactive.

first there would be anarchy, the children would run amuck.

Then there would be a dictatorship as the smarter manipulative kids would manipulate the bigger but dumber kids to take the snacks, pencils and pocket money of the other less organised and less ruthless children.

All the while Einstein would be sitting in the corner trying to do his own thing commenting on how horrible the other kids were, the class perfectionist would be trying hard to please the kids in power, the out cast would be made fun of by the followers but secretly admired while being beaten by the ruling kids. One of the smart tough kids with some ethics would be secretly helping others or unwillingly taking part in the mayhem.

Eventually the outcast, the Einstein (or Marx, or Chomsky) and the one quilty follower (but secret helper) would form a little union and the guilty kid would asume control over the sheep of the class and turn them against the dictators and democracy would be formed.

At which point there would be endless arguing among the Einstein, the outcast and the leader while the sheep kept following.
