Seriously, what is the point? Do you even have a wii? If you do (which I doubt), is it modded?
I understand the term "brick."
The possibility of this happening during an update is VERY small. I have done it several times. Yes, it can happen and yes, then you would send your wii back to nintendo and they can replace it (if you don't have a modd chip).
But what does this have to do with the thread?? Really, the op said..

Downloading from a different region can brick consoles, just as modded consoles get bricked because they don't mesh with the new updates auto-downloaded
Well, I've read about modded consoles "bricking" (becoming unusable when trying to connect online or download updated firmware). |
He is clearly talking about a method and not a definition. Why are you arguing something different?
I am arguing that the methods of "bricking" that he mentioned above are not true. |

I have a launch wii, I brought it with me to Korea, I don't see what that has to do with anything.

Maybe, but I doubt it since you've twice confused the method of doing something with the definition of something.

Ah but the possibility exists. In fact there was real concern a couple years ago that updating a chipped or modded wii through the online update feature would brick it.
Nintendo even warned of it.

What did your claim have to do with the thread? You were apparently correcting him, unfortunately your correction wasn't anymore right than his claim. You've just admitted that. You took issue with his explanation of why an unmodded wii might be safer for online play/updates.
You don't really know what the next update from Nintendo might do. The current updates don't brick anything, but who knows what nintendo does in their next update. They might include some code to brick modded wiis and people might update without checking online.

Yes he is, but you responded with a definition.

| Bricking is when you update software from a different region |
This is not bricking, this is a method that will cause a brick.
Bricking can happen in many ways, this is a surefire way to do it. It is not the definition of bricking. |

Perhaps 90% of this thread should have been in the technology forum. Sounds like several people know enough about something to be dangerous but not much more, and yes, I agree as well that someone should be studying his English more and playing Wii less.
I could break up the games and accessories, but I would like to wait another week or so in case someone wants the whole package. Thanks for your comments and questions, and good luck with your future paper weight livingin (just kidding...sort of). |
