Am I wrong? I gather this crap from unreliable sources like the internet, so maybe I am wrong. How can 90% ..supposing that is a fair estimate... consider 90% to be crap?

Ah, so maybe 90% are idiots.

Glad to be with the cool majority then.

Yes, i am an idiot. However there are times, when i have this fleeting thought...that maybe...just maybe I'm not actually stupid... but instead am average.... maybe i am just like the majority of people.. a member of humanity in general... and part of the fellow brotherhood of man. Not an idiot..just normal.

Then i think..."nah! I'm really an idiot"

Yes, everybody is an idiot at some stage in their life. Especially when alcohol is involved.

Having advanced or specialized knowledge about something that few people don't have doesn't make you any less an idiot. Look at many academics. To me being an idiot means lacking common sense. Unfortunately, I think most of us fall into that category at some point or other.

I'd say we are all idiots - 100% of us - we're a species of idiots. The arrogant ones are so because that is their defence against feelings of insecurity that the knowledge of their idiocy brings - (taps the ash off a cigar). Here I would define idiocy as errors and mistakes in our judgement...the consequences of living. In this case we are all idiots, we all make mistakes.

For such a 'developed' society I think, as a collection of individuals, we are incredibly insecure. We can deal with it differently. If one tells themselves that they are better than someone else at something (a little lie to themselves hopefully based in some form of reality) in order to ward off feeling like a complete dunce AND they are still somewhat productive as a result, then is this necessarily such a bad thing. Ya, its not exactly pleasant dealing with an arrogant arse.... look at dr.house - he saves lives!

or, one can live with the knowledge of their fallibility and just accept the gnawing anxiety that honestly looking at their faults can bring. Though, if this brings them to their knees and paralyses them so much so they can't function in society, then maybe a little arrogance (at least what we perceive as arrogance) could help.

Neil Innes has a pretty good take on this subject.

He has a recording done at the Monty Python Secret Poicemens Ball...but couldn't find that clip...bunch of others with Monty Python.

As an interesting aside...the comparison of Innes "How Sweet to be an Idiot" and Oasis "Whatever"...well...you would truly have to be an idiot not to see the likeness. Wink

Props to Oasis for copying some great tunes.

Puts a little perspective on the G-Dragon controversy. Cool
