I guarantee you'll meet fewer Christians if you hang out at Buddhist temples.

From what I've seen, there are plenty of non-Christians out there. What do you call drunks and room salon visitors? Surely, they aren't Christians.
going to church doesn't make one a true Christian either. Satan can go to church.

lots of the non-Christians are out doing what the so-called Christians are NOT doing......like volunteering to help the truly needy (i.e. most all the elderly and disabled in Korea), cleaning up the environment, stopping discrimination(age, race, nationality, etc.) Ya think?

You hang out in room salons? As for drunks

Yes, being a Christian keeps you sober and keeps IT in your pants.

How can you possibly qualify that statement?

I'm a friendly person and I like it when people talk to me on the street.

Usually people who approach and speak to me (whether in Korean or in English) are older folks, or perhaps mostly elderly. I like old timers, they can recall all sorts of history and interesting stuff.

However, what I don't like is that almost all of the adults I meet and chat with at some length at some point bring up their religious affiliation and question me about mine.

I would like to make some Korean friends or acqaintances who are either Christian or non-Christian, but for whom religion is just a private issue. Why is it so important for people to only relate to other Christians? How come these holy rollers just ooze out of the woodwork?

I totally respect people who go to church and that's fine, but why do people have the temerity to ask me on Sunday morning why I don't go to church? It's really nobody's bloody business, is it?

I could ask the same question about americans, I have met many americans, all they same to do is ask what my beliefs are.. why?
And when I mention that I'm a muslim they look at me like i just murdered all of their loved ones.

Many Koreans will just assume that we're Christian because we are white.

When someone asks me my religion I tell them I'm a "Free Thinker".

That has given me a great idea!
The next time I'm asked to go to someone's church, I'll suggest we do a swap for the sake of open-mindedness: I go to your sermon, if you come to my blood sacrifice orgy.

As a Christian myself (who also doesn't claim to be better than anyone else) I find the "subway Christians" annoying too. What better way to turn people off of God then by putting the "holy" spotlight on them? They need to spend more time in real relationships with non-churched people...Having said all of that, I hope it's understood that there are a lot of us Christians out there who are not out to embarrass, annoy, or stalk non-Christians!
My (Korean) wife gets a kick out of the shock on the faces of those who approach her, or have "tricked" her into attending a Bible study ("Oh, we're getting together for lunch this weekend. Will you join us?") when they ask her detailed Q's about the Bible, and she knows more than they do. It's almost like "Wha- why didn't you say something before I made an ass of myself?"

When someone from Korea asks me "Do you go to church-ee?" I warmly respond "Yes, I am Presbyterian."

When someone from America asks me "Are you some crazy Christian?" I warmly respond "Presbyterian".

I prefer the way people ask #1. More polite and less irrational.

without a doubt though, internet christians are the most annoying. They don't ever turn the other cheek and judge/criticise everyone when they are really supposed to lay down according to their own scripture. They aren't exactly Christ-like at all either. It just goes to show how seriously they take the prospect of being poked in the butt with a pitchfork for eternity. I sometimes wonder whether they even really believe their own faith.

Well the amusing thing about the internet is that you get people on one thread accusing Christians of being terrified of Hell and it causing mental disorders and then you get other people accusing Christians about not following their own beliefs or really believing in things.

Yes, Christians are not perfect. We do not always practice what we preach. That is part of being human.

Besides I think my post at least WAS about turning the other cheek.

But I must confess, and this may be somewhat judgemental, internet atheists often claim to be these pillars of rationality and then you read their posts and there are loads of deep-seeded emotional issues and irrational judgements of people.

The joys of the internet.

Korean Catholics tend to be more fun and don't push their belief's on others. In that way they are similar to Korean Buddhists. Both Korean Catholics and Buddhists are fun to go out with and will quite literally drink you under the table
