I used to have night terrors. scary as hell. you can be aware you are dreaming and try like hell to wake up, but nothing. A lot of waking up in the dream to discover you were still in the nightmare. and the dream continues for a little while after you've opened your eyes sometimes. They aren't the same as nightmares and they are a lot scarier.

Last night I dreamed that I was an Elvis impersonator/b-boy who was involved in an international plot to ship all the sour cream in the world to the nation of Cameroon.

Wow another lucid dreamer, awesome. It's hard to find people who do it at all. I'm able to do it at will if I concentrate before going to sleep but I choose not to many times as it's not as restful as just "letting go".

As for vivid dreams, yeah I have those in spades. The oddest ones are where a long span of time takes place within the dream (days/years) and you wake up feeling as though you've switched lives.

Last night I had a sort of flying dream. I say "sort of" because it wasn't flying so much as swimming through the air and being able to jump great distances and slowly... hmm doesn't make much sense when I say it that way, but regardless it was fun.

I was going to see a movie with some friends and we were piling into the car when I remembered I left my "lucky socks" inside (no idea where the socks came into play but...) So I went in and got them only to realize my buddies went on ahead without me. I was a bit pissed off but decided I could just jump there and that I'd get there faster because they had to deal with traffic, HA!

So yeah, I "jump-swam" to the theater and got my ticket as they were pulling up. A pretty awesome dream IMO.

If you WANT to be a vivid dreamer I recommend Mugwort (쑥 in Korean). You can smoke it or drink it or put it in soups or just put a load of it around your pillow. You can buy it in most markets or supermarkets.

Please elaborate.

Elaborate how? What else do you need to know? Do a google image search for "mugwort", look at the photos, then go to your local street market or supermarket and look for the herb/plant that looks the same. Koreans use it in soups. It's good for health. It's cheap. Koreans also burn it in shamanistic cermonies and during acupuncture sessions when mixed with other herbs.

I think you elaborated quite well, your confusion notwithstanding.

I'm eagerly awaiting kentucker4's post. He's the authority on lucid dreaming to me.

Last night, was flying through the malls on a hand held vacuum cleaner. Then I was flying over a cliff and suddenly I thought what happens if the batteries die?

Another one about my brother but enough of that.

I was in this sauna and all these nasty women started aggressively approaching me to have sex. Then a couple of dudes started approaching me as well.

I told the dudes to back off or I was going to knock them out. Suddenly, the sauna bouncer comes in and kicks me out because it was my fault for being a teaze. He said because I was so sexy, the people couldn't help themselves so it was my fault.

I also remember my dreams most nights. I'm the only person I know who does that. On Sunday I had a dream about zombies, and I'm thinking of writing a book based on my dream. If Stephenie Meyer made millions off of her book-based-on-a-dream, maybe I can get lucky too Laughing

I have a dream catcher so I don't have to remember my dreams.

Works like a charm.

Recently, my dreams have been of my family and home back in the States. The odd thing is, I'll be at my old house (lived there for 24 years) instead of my newer home, and I'll always know I'm not supposed to be there. I always think about "How am I going to get back to Korea in time for class?" or "How did I get here?" Once I wake up, I remember where I am.

I also see my dead brother often, but always realize he's dead in the dream. He does too, in the dream. I do wonder what that symbolizes. I haven't had my really weird dreams since I got here.

Last night was back at NATO giving some kind of a speech.

Went camping with a group and we had this huge tarp and we couldn't agree on where to put it so finally one guy suggested a local school, which I thought was stupid.

Back in high school had a bunch of my friends over from the football team. One guy kept talking garbage so I picked him up and tossed him around like a rag doll.

He challenged me to a one on one but when I went outside his buddies were waiting for me with knifes. I talked my way out of it but they kept me in house arrest.

Suddenly two really beat up guys came through my front door and passed out in the living room. I ran and got some dude to call for help.

When I came back they had burnt down my house and my mother was inside crying.

Had a sex dream but I'll keep that one to myself.

Anyone ever dream in their second language? When I was really getting good at French, I started to have bilingual dreams, and it tripped me out to the point where I can remember thinking to myself in my dream, holy @#$%! I'm dreaming in French.

I'm curious if any students of Korean have had this experience?

The best vivid dreams are the ones where you can actually control what you are doing in your dream. I have only had these a few times in my life, but they were memorable experiences.

What about the dreams that you can't move? I used to have them all the time. I think there is a technical name for these types of experiences. Regardless, they were just plain f'n weird!

I had a dream that I was at work last night. In the dream I was having a hard time, and then I forcibly woke myself up after just going "man, can't I escape the pain of working even when I'm resting?". That sucks.

Sometimes I can vivid dream at will. But I don't really know how I do it. I'm not a musical person, but maybe three or four times a year I dream an original piece of music. A couple of times I have dreamed a song but it was playing backwards. One was a drum and bass song the other was 1901 by Phoenix. There were no lyrics though.
