A giant spider giving a woman oral sex? Jesus Tapdancing Christ.

Yeah, it's not exactly a realistic representation of anyone's sex life. I was just thinking in terms of fantastic imagery meant to put repulsive thoughts in someone's head, the giant tarantula would be more effective than sex with Hitler, since Nazism has been used an object of sexual festishism for a long time now. (NSFW)

A quarter of a century after the outbreak of Aids, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has accepted that the threat of a global heterosexual pandemic has disappeared.

In the late 80s/early 90s, there were two groups of people who most vociferously promoted the idea that AIDS in North America was about to start infecting heterosexuals at the same rate that it had been infecting gay men. These were...

A. AIDS activist groups, whose motto was "Give us more funding for our ptograms, or we will soon face a medical apocalypse", and...

B. The Religious Right, whose motto was "Lock up gays now, or we will soon face a medical apocalypse".

Of course, both these groups regarded each other as the enemy, and neither was gracious enough to acknowledge the others contribution to the panic, despite the fact that, as far as their empirical claims went, they were both saying pretty much the same thing.
