I don't think there is a difference between DVI and HDMI, other than the HDMI being able to carry an audio signal. Unless your monitor has built-in speakers, the HDMI feature is kind of pointless.
You can easily get a DVI->HDMI (vice versa) adapter. |
Right.
HDMI is much more useful in the home theater environment where it can carry video and up to 7.1 channel sound from a DVD/BD player to a Home Theater amp all in one cable.
For a basic desktop......not much use. My monitor has HDMI-in and I can do HDMI-out though my HD4870, but I don't bother. |

Feah, are you in Korea? I'd like to see a price breakdown on everything you got if you are. What was the board, Ram, drive, etc? What brand was the video card?
Building it cost me another 10,000 won.. that's it. I've built several computers before. It's no longer fun or interesting.
Hate to say you're a liar, but if you're in Korea, I don't see how it could have been much cheaper, seeing as you bought 2 video cards that cost about 175,000 won each and at least another 50,000 ito 75,000 in Ram. |

A note, I bought all my components from 1 place, just to save hassle and to get a discount. He didn't provide the cheapest prices in comparison to his competitors BUT, he did offer a discount since I was spending a bit, so it all worked out. |

None of the components I got are the best, but I didn't want the best, I had a budget. Actually I went about 100 bucks over the budget but I got exactly what I wanted and I'm super happy about it. |

The PSU is the backbone of any solid system and not the place to cut back. Your likening a crap-ola PSU to a ho-hum vid card is seriously flawed.
Anyhow, otherwise, a great system. When you get some cash, think about what I said. Or don't.
Happy gaming! |

Wow. You actually paid more than I did. I also got a Coolermaster CPU cooler in on that. Enjoy. |

| I bought a 550 watt PSU for 30,000w on gmarket. Works perfectly. Last year I bought a 100,000w 450w PSU thinking the higher quality would be better. Nope, it burned out. |

Well, there's egg on my face, huh?
I guess it pays to buy crap.

Well, seeing as you felt the need to post here and tell me my machine was "kind of expensive" compared to yours, I thought I'd ask what you spent to prove you got a better deal. Your post came across like a troll.
When you did put up prices (minus shipping fees), you omitted the cost of your DVD drive.... I thought it was interesting that you arrived at a number by adding up the cheap parts on Danawa, but that the prices were similar to mine, even after claiming my deal was overpriced.
So basically, I thought you were being a "dick", and quite possibly a poor troll. In any case.. sorry if I'm wrong. |

Just bought a new i5 machine.
i5 750 CPU
Coolermaster 212+ heatsink
Asrock P55m Pro mainboard
4gigs Gskill 1333 DDR3 with CL7 timings
1 TB WD Green HDD
LG Super Blue blu-ray reader drive
7 in 1 card reader
Newzen Green 500w Power supply
Gigabyte ATI 4550 "screen" fanless graphics card (for movies -- I don't game)
Microsoft wireless keyboard/mouse
All total, came to just under 1.1 million built (no OS yet). I'm picking up a new LG 23" 1080p monitor tomorrow for about 260,000. Awesome looking monitor. |
If you don't game, I would have been tempted to build a 775 rig, the prices are much cheaper (mobo and the cpu) but it will be a nice fast rig; not trying to give you post-purchase anxiety! |

Thanks. I picked the parts, although the graphics card wasn't my first choice. I just wanted something silent, or near silent. Wanted the new low-end GeForce card that does LPCM over hdmi, but it's an OEM card and a bit difficult to find by itself as of Monday.
I was pretty happy that the prices on all of the parts were all really close (sometimes a tad less) than prices on Danawa and Enuri. They are charging me just 10,000 to build it. The case is kind of ugly, but it has fan controls, 4 USB's in the front, and good airflow.
Never had an Asrock board, but the people who have reviewed it said it's a solid value board. It also offered higher speed ram upgradeability, although I doubt I will bother.
Paid a smidge extra (not much ) to get CL7 timings on the ram. Most DDR3 is CL9 these days. |
Where did you get it built, I might use them to save me the hassle of a build. |

Honestly, just pick about anyone in Yongsan's Sun-in building. Prices are going to be similar. The lady at this place speaks English, though. She's there about 70% of the time. They are located along the street/sidewalk of the Sun-in building. The name is BAHRO-BAHRO COMPUTER.
A couple of notes... the AsRock board I got was the cheapest, but it seems to work very well for me. If I had to do it over again, I probably would have tried the stock I5 cooler first, then upgraded to a Zalman instead of a Coolermaster, if needed. If you plan to O'Clock an i5, you WILL need a new cooler. |
