| No one else is a fan of Talisker from the Isle of Skye? |
I've toured the distillery, and it was cool, but their scotch has a very peaty taste which is far too strong for my delicate tastebuds. However, I do highly recommend touring Skye.
I also like Glenmorangie and Cardhu. A cheaper whisky I drank while in Scotland was Singleton, which I've seen here, but it did not look the same as the one in Scotland, so I can't attest to its quality in Korea. Just did a google search and the one I enjoyed was from Auchroisk, but the one in Korea is from Glen Ord. Also their is nothing wrong with Glenlivet, its the fiddich I can do without.
When I toured a few distilleries in Scotland, I heard the same surprising thing from all of the guides; that it is the first 10 years that make the whisky, and the years after offer very little real difference in taste and quality. I wouldn't know, as I'm just a working stiff and I've never had a 18 or 25 year old whisky. The way I looked at it, and maybe it is my Scottish nature speaking, but 1 bottle of 21 year old The Macallan is $250, but while a 12 year old is $80, so why not buy three of those as that equals 36 years of pure fastidiously assessed beauty in a bottle. |

Either you heard wrong, or those guides need to be fired, because that is just not true.
I think maybe what they were trying to say is that the whisky matures fairly rapidly in the first ten years. I think it is actually ilegal to sell anything branded as a single malt before it is ten years old. It is after this period that the whisky develops the delicate sublties and maturities that make it so much more valuable.

Well, if you ust want to get hammered, then fairplay
But two nine year olds going to the pub and saying they're eighteen didn't work for me, so.... |

I brought back my 3l of malts in the summer as gifts.
I never sampled any malts in a few years. I was pleasantly surprised on the incoming fligh by a run-of-the-mill Famous Grouse.
When I used to drink, I used to drink to get drunk and I never liked the taste of whiskey; but now that I don't drink to get drunk, I really appreciate a flavoursome tipple. |

| Has anyone seen Highland Park for sale in or around Seoul? According to a google search they've recently been promoting it in Korea, but I haven't seen it anywhere. |

Try Bowmore for a smokey kick. |
Tobermory has a smoky flavour. Probably doesn't compare to Laphroaig though - wish I could say I'd tried some! |
