I think those working in Korea regardless of where should be allowed to post.

Sure, but why only extend it that far? How about people who used to work in Korea? How about people who plan to work here? How about people who will never work here, but work in Taiwan or Japan, countries that don't have an off-topic forum like the one here?

We all read posts like the one tsgarp is complaining about in the OP sometimes. Why are they so exclusive or tribal? They're just wrong.

Beaver, The Lemon is right except he is too polite.

Its not his Mod hat he's wearing, its his "I Am Canadian" hat-what you apologize when some jackass steps on your foot?

It's been brought up to me by two different posters now that since I am not a teacher I should get off this forum. So, simple question, are non-teachers persona non grata on Dave's ESL cafe?

Only 2? Your lucky, I get told that all the time. I have found that if you come here with strong opinions and you are not a teacher (Especially if your not a hogwon teacher) a small, but vocal, section of the posters here react critically to anything you might post. To these morons your experiences living in Korea seem to matter little if your not one of them. Additionally if you post anything negative about hogwons or teaching you will also be attacked. I just laugh it off- after all its just a discussion board and really, do you care what anonymous internet posters think?

Guys, all I can say about that is that the people who are upset tend to be more outspoken about such things than the rest of us.

The interesting part about this is the poll.

2 - yes, go away
12 - stay.

THE OP mentioned only 2 contacted him before he did this poll that he should leave. As always, just about everyone else on the forum feels differently than the 2 making all the noise.

As for me, I value all perspectives from all different places. This forum would be very boring if everyone agreed on all subjects all the time.

16 to 2 by the last count in favor of non-esl'ers staying. I feel like Sayy Fields at the Oscars, "you like me, you really like me." Despite the fact that Corporal really dislikes me even she would like to see me stay. I was about to make my "I shall post no more forever" speech but now I guess I'll just continue on in my own gratingly annoying fashion. Thank you all for participating in this thread and the last one out turn off the lights.
