Check this out.......an i5 kit from Newegg...all you need to get going except GPU.....all top-brand stuff....no rubbish.

for $577!!!

Converted, that's 700,000 won.

Here's a system for less including the Geforce 210 card (smaller HDD and a smidge less Ram) and a DVD burner:
http://www.icoda.co.kr/i_product/pro_diy_orange.html?it_num=138095

Drop the video card, the DVD burner, add 2 gb more ram, and up the HDD, and you're about the same (713,000 plus whatever going from a 1TB drive to 1.5 TB will cost). Yeah, it's an Asrock mainboard, but FYI, the Gigabyte boards are very close in price in the p55m.

By the way, that price is built, and includes a 2 year warranty.

I'll stick with the newegg deal........every component in that Icoda PC is lower spec and lower quality. Except the CPU of course. Same-same.

I know you can get lesser known brand name stuff in Korea.....but it's the really reputable parts, the components favored by the guys on the technet sites, which are over-priced here.

Raidmax case and 850w PSU......4GB of DDR3 1600mhz RAM....2TB of HDD!! And ask any overclocker if he would like an Asrock mobo or a Gigabyte mobo!!

I will say though, for Korea, that icoda PC is a good deal.

Again... Asrock or Gigabyte... about the same price in the p55m. Icoda has other deals with an MSI board. They'd likely let you choose different at the store. As for the 850w PSU... yeah, they all kinda suck in Korea.

I thought the HDD was 1.5TB?

In any case, if I had this to do all over again, I would have gone with a 500gb drive. The 1TB+ drives seem to have quite high failure rates from Western Digital, currently.

Sunin is the only one I've been to. They have at least one guy that speaks English. 2nd floor right by the staircase.

One more Question!

When choosing a LCD Monitor, is it best to go with a name brand in Korea?

In the states I used a Dell 24 and was happy with it

Looking for a LCD 24 Monitor. No TV in

Honestly, go with something that has a decent warranty (more than year, if possible) and yeah... a Korean brand is good. You can get Dell, but make sure it's from an authorized dealer.

I'm absolutely thrilled with my LG W2353V monitor that I bought this month. It's a 16x9 screen, which may not be your cup of tea (not great for gaming due to width, I've read) but it's awesome for working on Word and stuff like that, because I can put two windows side-by-side in it and see them perfectly. If you want to game, don't go with 16x9 size... go with 16x10 or something else. The 16x9 models are what's being pushed, but in all honesty, a 16x10 monitor in the same number of inches looks a hell of a lot larger to me.

I brought a really high end system at the start of the year from yongsan, ended up costing a hell of a lot, 2.3 mill won, or something around there. Was an 920 i7 (which means expensive mobo, ram, etc) zalman case 850watt psu, cpu cooler, fans, WD 2TB drives, HD screen, camera. 2X 4870 in crossfire, and other stuff.

Wow.....nice machine......I'm very very jealous.

Yeh, that's sweet, all it needs is an SSD and it will fly! Get one next year when the prices will be down.

Yeah it's not too bad right now, although i still can't quite max all graphics settings out! Playing cod mw2 and had some major explosions happen, and the cards started to chug, playing at 1080p tho with it all maxed, so had to turn it down to 2xAA and screams throught it, don't really see it drop below 100fps (when i can actually look at the fps) and with such high res it's hard to see that much effect AA has, well to me anyway. Bad eyes. But made me think, maybe I need 5xxx in xfire. hehehe there goes another months wages...

don't mean to jack the thread op, but what do you guys think about SSD, way too expensive, and not enough storage space at the moment i think (2TB setup as raid1 so i'm quickly running outa space as it is) my os is on a 500gb drive ( the tower i have has 6 sata hotswap bays Smile I'd like to buy some SSD eventually

I game on a 24" 16x9 screen, set at 1920 1080 and goes fine with me, i like this res for watching HD stuff, and like you putting two windows side by side and still having enough room for both.

That's good to know. The article I read may have been complaining about older games not working well with 16x9. I'm not anything close to an expert on the subject, though, as I don't game.

thx for that, interesting to see what games dont work well this res.

I have had to hack older games (rugby 08 if thats old enough) to support widescreen or custom res so I guess if you don't want that hassle then you might want a different screen

Just had a system built today, well yesterday, lol . Fiddling with it now to get everything going right
6 gigs of ram
1 terabyte HD
Quad Core AMD Phenom Mid level
Mid level ATI Video card
1 DVD Burner
1 DVD Reader
Onboard sound, but that doesn't seem to be working at the moment.
The guys hooked up the PC incorrectly, I had to reconnect the SATA cables to different Ports.
Looking at probably buying a pair of moderate speakers tomorrow, as well as a moderately priced sound card.
Windows 7 of course .
_+_+

Wes,

Did you download the Windows 7 updates for the audio from your mainboard manufacturer?

What Phenom did you get?
