Darn,
I ordered off gmarket, but the DVD writer I got is different from the one in my computer. I thought they would all be the same. In my computer looks just like every DVD drive I saw on all the "how to change your DVD writer" videos. But when this one arrived from gmarket, the connectors are different than I ever saw (SATA).
Live and learn. The refund process looks pretty straightforward on gmarket anyway.

Sata connection is better and easier than IDE......if they gave you a SATA DVD writer, good! Don't return it!

But the cables are different from the IDE cables in my computer.
My computer has IDE and power cable
Sata is different size.
Wait, maybe they put the adapter cables in the box
I will check again.

No , the SATA connectors and the IDE cables in my computer are very different. Don't think I can use the SATA drive in my IDE PC. Correct me if I am wrong.
Thanks

Your motherboard will more than likely support sata

see at the bottom left of this motherboard the four black sockets? (this image is on it's side)

Simply unplug the old ide cable and plug the new sata cables in the sata sockets. Boot up and windows should auto detect
