| Hmm, I'm not sure if this picture is genuine, but it's definitely the case that there are some truly large people out there who have no doubt had at least somewhat comparable experiences. I think the worst thing about being such a person wouldn't be the physical inconvenience, but rather experiencing the scorn of so many people around you. Being judged harshly and often isn't something anyone likes. |

no way. it takes a concerted effort to maintain that guys weight level, he's gotta be taking down AT LEAST 7,000 calories a day. that would be more than a chore if not impossible for the average person anywhere else in the world to consume. he could drop pounds in no time if he made the slightest effort.
The average weight in 2002 for American males was 192 pounds, up from 167 in the 1960s.

You have to be kidding yourself if you think you can chalk that up to genetics.
Can we please acknowledge the role of personal responsibility here? Once we get a public option we're all going to be paying for the scores of complications that go along with that gluttonous, negligent lifestyle. |

I think everyone realizes that it's a personal choice to become a large person, unless it's a medical condition.....and it is a personal responsibility to lose weight....or gain weight....Genetics plays a small part in it I believe...anyway...let's end the back and forth and be happy that we are not that big! |

| Fair enought they guy is huge, but it looks like he is just sitting on the seat talking to his friend prior to take off. Obviously he isnt sitting down hanging off the side. Interesting problem though, I heard someone on the radio theorizing that they should just weigh people on the check in and charge them accordingly. That way skinnier people could have more baggage. |

Yup...combination of both.
I saw a gal around Itaewon the other day comparable to this guy's size buying up every bag of Cheetos, Doritos, and Lay's at one of the grey market shops. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and thought maybe she was having a party, but after she left the adjeoshi told me she comes in every week and buys 8-12 bags of chips.
There's also a gal at my gym that was around the same size...6 months ago. She's been on the treadmill and with a trainer 4 times a week and is now about half as big as she was.
Bad genetics just means more effort to stay in shape. It's not an excuse to let yourself go. |

That sounds like it would be wildly unsuccessful =)
You'd need:
Half the number of seats of a regular aircraft
Five times as much food as a regular aircraft
To make a profit you'd probably have to charge more than a business class ticket on a regular airline haha.
I think these fatties should just stay home and eat chips and ice cream instead of overlapping into regular people's airline seats. That or fly private. |

Or just use a blimp
A bag of hot air
for the tub(s) of lard

| He'd be a major safety hazard in an emergency. At some point people that large simply shouldn't be allowed to fly. |

It's akin to being an alcoholic I think....over eating/drinking...unhappy about whatever...most hugh folks I think got that way because of being unhappy....eating was a way out to them.....no friends, no romance, ec... |

It's a bit of both-he might crowd and exit or he could plug a hole to maintain cabin pressure. I'd just want to make sure he's tied down out of the way. Put him up by the cockpit for all I care. |

What about Siamese twins though?
Should they buy one or two seats? |
