What's with people sellong their old machines for so much?

Because they come with games that run 30,000 to 50,000 each new, as well as accessories like extra controllers that cost as well. Also people can just take them home easier than a computer if they want -- they don't have to sell them.
The PS3 has pretty good resale value, which sure upsets the low-ballers hoping to scam a low, low price. I've owned and sold 2 different PS3's. You can always tell the bottom-feeders who aren't interested unless they get it for next to nothing, because they never researched what it would actually cost to purchase games and accessories. They come in and say, "Oh, that cost 400,000 new! I'll pay 250,000!" I just laugh... yeah, buddy... you go out and buy your new P3, then don't spend anything for a game, movie, or extra controller, because if you do, you'll find yourself spending 550,000-600,000 for it all very, very quickly.
If you really want a used PS3, be prepared to pay over 300,000 because that's what the market will pay. |

You can get the newer model for 400k.
Why spend 315 for a used one?
If you say games included...those games are meh at best. |
elder scrolls iv: oblivion - 9.1/10 (link)
fight night round 3 - 8.4/10 (link)
fight night round 4 - 8.6/10 (link)
tekken 5: dark resurrection - 8.1 (link)
i know everyone has different tastes in games, but i think the games i'm including are far from "meh".
if you want to buy the new one for 400k and spend at least another 100k for some games, be my guest. i'm not trying to force or trick anyone into buying this. but if anyone wants a perfectly fine ps3 that can run the same games and play the same blu-ray movies that a newer more expensive one can, and includes 4 great games for a fraction of the cost, i really don't think my price of 315k obo is asking too much. |

Thanks for that bit of info. I was wondering why used were so much. I've been thinking about picking one up but I'll wait. It's a heavy investment when I would just like to try it out. Maybe I would really enjoy a console in my adulthood. Maybe not.
Do you know of anywhere that rents consoles and games? Could be any console. When I was a kid, the video stores would rent the Nintendo consoles. Anything here like that? |

No but I've seen game rooms where you just rent a room for an hour or two and play any console you want for said amount of time - kind of like a PC bang or Karoke bar... anyway, passed one @ Hongdae the other day and thought... what a great idea. |

I have my 360 and I'm happy with it. I'm not lowballing because I don't want the machine. |
