bank account is enough to track him down.. dont worry...
go to the police monday, tell them what happened...
give the bank account number and tell him you are a victim of cyber crime.. you will be ok.. they will call the bank, and get the owner of that account down to the station to explain why you sent him that money... |
and your certain about that?
Lets keeps this thread alive. i really wanna see the outcome of this. |

| If Korea's finest actually get off their butts and solve this cyber crime. I will give them the respect they usually don't deserve. |

If the seller is any kind of criminal at all...and I suspect he is, he's going to have spoofed that bank account information. It's probably a stolen ID that he is using.
Stop sending money to strangers! |

| It's really not cool that people steal money and take advantage of others like this. Honestly makes the rest of us look bad. I have sold many things on here for over 200,000 and people have been very satisfied. I kinda wish dave's had a rating system kinda thing. that way if you were very happy with your purchase you could click on the persons profile and select a rating, and also if you were unhappy or were scammed, you could select a low rating. I know you say that people should always meet in person, but some people are trust worthy. So, I guess I would feel more comfortable talking to the person before I purchased something from them rather than not talking at all. And ofcourse, I'd say purchases over 50,000 would be a pick-up, even though I sold my oven for 200,000 and never saw the girl face-to-face. |

| I have also sold and bought lots of things on this forum and never once had a problem with anything. I have met f2f maybe once out of about 5 years using this site! I hope you find this guy so he stops doing things like this and making everything look sketchy and dishonest. It would be a shame to loose trust amongst each other because of this a$$hole! |

| Yeah, I bought a PS3 and 360 last year on this site, as well as an ipod. All of those sellers were longtime posters on this forum though, so I felt comfortable. This guy Schweitzer had only made a few posts. Weird that one of his posts was a long anti-dishonesty rant in that thread about the other guy ripping people off. |

| when you transfer money from an ATM or online there is always a confirmation screen., that screen shows the amount of money your sending and who the receiver is.. even if you missed that the first time around you can easily go to the bank with your passbook as ask the tellers to update it.. whomever's account that you sent money to will be listed. I think the ppl on this board that say the police will not help you and there is nothing you can do and your a dumbass blah blah blah would not know how to get their money back either. Get the persons name from your banking records and go to the police station. |

I would like to see him get this resolved. But its just my opinion that he will not get his money back as this will not be an easy or simple process to endure for a foreigner. Its so difficult to hold someone liable in this country.
Car accidents are a prime example of this. A friend of mine had an accident not too long ago. Got T-boned and clearly the other guys fault. It was a no brainer. My buddy took pictures of the accident and photocopied the korean's drivers license. Anyway next day hes at the cop shop and the police are questioning both of them. My buddy realizes that the korean they are questioning isnt the person who hit him. He says to the cops, 'this is not the same guy that hit me'.. korean dude is like, what you talking about , of course its me. My buddy pulls out a photocopy of the driver's license card who actually hit him. Cops are like, wtf.. and then who are you.. korean dude is like , ' i am his brother'... ' cops are like, well do you now care to change your story'.. so dude changes his story..
I guess in this country your allowed to purchase, 'family insurance' and any tom dick or harry under that policy can show up to claim fault of the accident REGARDLESS whether its the person who was directly involved in the accident.
i shook my head and laughed.. korea can be a complete joke for no liability..
in the end my buddy had to pay 20% out of his pocket and rest was on the korean.
keynotes : my buddy is married to korean and a good friend of his is a high ranking police officer and he STILL had to pay 20%.. |

Unless I am mistaken, you have to have a Korean or Resident Alien ID to open a bank account. My guess is that this crook is strictly a small time guy, picking up change from the street. He's counting on the fact that most foreigners don't know enough to take any real action -- and on police who may not want to bother with small amounts.
On the other hand, the immigration people might have a very different idea. Someone should send this little con artist back to his home country -- as a favor to Korea. Not just because he steals, but because he makes the rest of us work a lot harder to make transactions -- since we can't trust anyone. |

| From the info that we've put together, the guy is gyopo, so he may not have an alien card, he could be on a Korean passport. |

| I hope the OP gets their money back and the stooge gets their comeuppance. I don't see why people don't add someone to their facebook before they do a trade, at least than you are in more contact with them, or at the very least their friends, no one is gonna rip someone else off if you could just send all of their friends/family messages telling them what they did. (thats what I did last year when I collected about $2,400 worth of money from people for soccer tickets) |
