Sounds like a great car but mate it is 9 years old and 2.2 million, two much. I would be interested but the price is two steep. Been in Korea for a long time now and if you would like to give a different price, something that is more in line with the market price, give me a PM.

BTW your threads are great and UTD with the current situations,

I am interested in a an older car, check the listings and your cost.

Take Care,
Alaskaman

Got some lookers coming this weekend, but it's still for sale.

Went to the Dongdaemun-gu office and found out what it takes to sell it to another foreigner. Far, far easier if you live in Seoul.

I have a paper we must fill out, plus you need to get a Do-jang stamp (legal full name in English and/or Korean should be fine) made at one of those little do-jang shops. Then you need to register it at the gu office and get a certificate stating that it's legit (you might be able to do all of this at Dongdaemun once you've made the do-jang... have to ask the wife). You'll have to pay sales tax, plus insurance on the car just before-hand (I know several agents, including an English-speaking one). I'll need a copy of your registration for my insurance to cancel mine.

Here is an agent, selling what was AIG insurance, but is now under a different name:

Gina directly, call 82) 02-794-7414, 82) 02-793-6903 (Office), 82) 011-9873-7415 (Mobile) or e-mail: [email protected]

Just let me know!

A little different than my experience. I bought a Kia Pride from another foreigner last year(sold it already too). I had my co-teacher call about insurance. Once she found me an acceptable price, they provided bank transfer info. I ran out and paid, while they faxed a copy to my school. I had already paid the previous owner with a bank transfer, and the receipt of that was used to calculate the sales tax. I went to one office, the gu I suspect, and a VERY small fee and few short minutes later, I was done. The only fly in the ointment was the guy had already left the country, and they asked if I could get him to email a scan of his passport info page... which he did, and I was on my way. No certified name stamp was needed or even asked for. Aside from the small snafu of needing his pp info, it was a snap.

edit: This was down in Jeollanamdo, far from Seoul. No English speakers aside from my co-teacher and I.

I have checked the listings.

That's actually on the low end of market value for a Matiz of that year, mileage, options, etc.. If you don't believe me, feel free to see www.encar.com

The only cars that are less are way out somewhere in the styx (a paperwork nightmare for foreigners to purchase if they're privately-owned). Also, you'll find that many cars on sites are actually fakes placed there to bait-switch you into a dealership. Start shopping around -- you'll see.

Please feel free to check around and get back to me if you're interested in a car that's not a hoopty.

I'll back you on that, somewhat. I think your asking price is fair given the year and mileage, but I disagree with the paperwork statement. It's just not true. I was living in the styx when I bought my car... and the owner had already left the country, and I had no problem at all.

I check Encar almost everyday(I'm dying for a Hyundai Click), and they have some similar, but older Matiz models for around 1.5M, but your limited to that crappy gold color in a 98-99 model.

Considering someone on here is trying to get 2.5M for a pedal bike, I think you're running a bargain! lol

The paperwork on my end is a pain.

If I sell to someone outside of Seoul, I have to go to the Gu office where they live to do it.
