Incheon has 3 things going for it:
1/ Close to Seoul
2/ Close to airport
3/ Deokjeok Island
Everything else sucks. It is directly in the culture shadow of
Seoul and therefore there is NOTHING here. 2.5 million people
but no Costco, no microbreweries and relatively few proper
restaurants.
I takes about 40min. to get Itaewon from Bupyeong Station on the
Yongsan Express. But you have to leave the partying early to catch
last subway.
Lots of Thais, Bangladeshis and Indian types here, so Immigration
is overburdened. Therefore privates a plentiful, safe and lucrative.
Let me put it this way. If I didn't have my non-teaching job and
family so settled here, I would be gone in seconds. Seoul is MUCH
more fun and has many more things to do. I like certain clubs. They
are ALL in Seoul. Incheon has nothing. Well, it has the airport, so
its easy to leave. haha |

Well, Well .. it didn't take long for Sancho-Incheon Hater- Panza to surface again in an Incheon thread.
For God's sake move to Seoul ... pitch a tent in the Costco car park where you will be happy.
Better still, take a one way trip to Incheon Airport. Your non teaching job can't be worth all the suffering you are going through. |

Or you can spend 8,000 won and spend the night at the jimjilbang in Itaewon once you're done playing. Much easier, and you can have a western breakfast in the morning |

Well Incheon at least has one thing going for it. It is not a "UK-wanna be"
colony. |

Oh my another "What's Inchon like?" thread. I've lived in Inchon for 10 years now. What's it got going for it?
1) Close enough to Seoul I can go there and come back in one day
2) Islands
3) The airport
4) Places like Wolmido, The landing memorial, some parks etc... that make for a pleasent day outside
5) Munhak Stadium and all the events held there
6) the ferry to China and Cheju-di
7) A couple foriegn supermakets-no need to go all the way to Itaewon
Turkmenistan restaurant with cheap food and freindly staff
9) The temple where I walk my dog and no one complains
10) IT IS 3 HOURS AWAY FROM MY MOTHER-IN-LAW!!!!!!!!!!! |

I use GPS to find them. They are in the Nam-dong Kom dan area. There's a smal one near Emart at Dong-chun station.
Start at Emart with it on your left and go across the river/stream using the bridge.
Keep walking straight. Quite a long way.
the supermarket is on your left next to a gas station. |

You're kidding right? I work at 100 block of the Namdeong Industrial
Complex. I went into that "supermarket" you are talking about. It is pure
crap. 90% Korean products and phone cards. The remaining 10%
is nothing you would want to buy. If you want things like a variety of
sauces, spices, lamb, basmati and jasmine rice etc., etc. Then
Itaewon is the only place. Don't bother going to the Namdeong
Industrial Complex. You WILL be disappointed. |

There is the market owned by the two Pakistanis. It is near Dong-Chun Station. If you were at Gangseok - 5 -Geori Station, drive towards Bupyeong Station. You'd have to turn to the left to continue on to the road that has the Kims Club. You'd see the the Pakistani Market on the left-hand side of the road parhaps about fifty metres down it.
This store sells Hallal chicken, mutton, a variety of curried veggies from India, spices, phone cards, Indian tea, and bunch of other stuff.
The Pinoy Restaurant also sells some stuff. I saw Safeguard soap, Filipino beer and stew mixes, and I also ate some good dishes from that nation. The Uzbek/Tajik/Russian restaurants over there are clean, well-decorated, and not expensive. Go for the Sashlik, Carrot-Tomato Salad, Samsa, barbecued whole chicken, and Plov. Great stuff! Oh, the Russian beer there is pretty good as well! Frankly, it is much, much better than
Korean beer. |

I'll have to stick with Itaewon. I like sourdough rye and peasant bread, fresh-style mozzarella (sealed in the liquid), clover honey, and milled flax seed, which I can't seem to find elsewhere.
Some products can be found at Emart or Homeplus, though, like museli, Hunt's whole canned tomatoes, and canned beans. |

Why would anyone let shopping supplies dictate where they are going to live????
That is just plain stupid!!!
We are in the most wired country in the world. ANYTHING you want is available on the internet and delivered right to your door.
You won't get me to move to Seoul because I can't buy some lamb down the street. |
