And they're not the only Korean club to have switched location. There are more besides the other one (Bucheon) that you mentioned.

Yes, indeed. That's probably why - unfortunately - there are so many Man Utd fans all over the world. Anyway, like them or not - and personally they're not my favourite K-league team - FC Seoul do still get amongst the highest home attendances in Korea.

Seriously though, "everyone else" hates FC Seoul? Some people do for the (understandable) reasons you mentioned, but most people really don't give a monkey's about all that. Sadly, many people don't really give a monkey's about the K-league generally either. Which is a pity, because most who go to games do enjoy it.

Well I was talking about K-League fans. I have yet to meet anyone who didn't despise them, other than their fans of course.

I've come across expats that do and their nickname for them of "FC Seould", which is, I admit, vaguely witty the first time you hear it.

But amongst Korean fans of K-league teams, most people I've spoken to don't really care about all that. Sure, some of them hate FC Seoul, but for the usual football fan reasons of them being another team, being from the capital or getting too much attention on tv etc.

FWIW, I think there is something in the analogy with Wimbledon/MK Dons. In England there was a high level of disgust when it happened, but other than the (let's be honest, very small number of) fans of the club concerned, most people have long since moved on from that and don't really care any more. And MK Dons actually often now get better attendances in the 3rd tier divsion than Wimbledon used to get playing in the top division.

While I don't condone moving from city to city, Seoul are my local team and my only access to live football. And I'd rather have my son grow up watching FC Seoul then have him seduced by the Man Ure, Chelsea etc. that he can watch on tv....

I'm glad I saw this. I really don't know anything about K-league politics and so on, and I just want to watch live football. I'm not sure about purchasing season tickets, because I only have about 6 months left in the country, so I'm not sure how much of them I will get to use, but I most certainly want to buy some match tickets.
I looked on the website, and it seemed rather confusing. For one, I don't know how the tiers work, and how much you pay to sit where. Also, it looks like I'm not able to pre-purchase online? The only information I found said I have to buy them 3 hours before the match at the ticket booth. Could you put me in touch with this person at FC Seoul? Either that, or just ask him to give you all the details on buying tickets and the easiest way for a foreigner to do it.

Thanks!

They've made a very good start to the season but let's see how long it lasts. They were awful last year.

No, that's not right. The booths selling tickets on the day of the match open 3 hours before kick off. You do NOT have to buy them 3 hours before. You can buy them 15 minutes before if you like. But bear in mind that it's unreserved seating, therefore first come, first served.

The ticket booths most people use are behind the North Stand, pretty clearly marked as "N" and the end you can see as you come up the escalators out of the World Cup subway station. Once you're on the level where the convenience store is, you need to go up the steps towards the stadium itself and you should see the ticket booths right in front of you.

Just go up and ask for N, W, E, or S seats. N is the cheapest (8,000 IIRC) and is behind the goal where most of the FC Seoul fans go. S is for away fans. W and E seats at the side are more expensive (12,000 I think), with the W stand being the one with the players' tunnel.

FC Seoul.........Scum!

나 사랑 인천 FC!

Looking forward to May 9th, Incheon-Seoul 'derby' at Munhak. As long as we don't do a repeat of the game against Seognam 2 weeks ago I'll be happy!

Thankfully no I didn't. They have one of our old players, a Balkan guy, Radoncic I think his name is. We just called him 'No.31'. He was terrible for Incheon, but the fans loved him for some reason.

I went to our last home game against Gwangju, we won 2-0, but it was a farce. Their keeper got sent off in the first 5 mins, the resulting penalty was saved, Incheon didn't do anything until the last 10 mins by which time Gwangju had got another man sent off. There were no away fans at all, and only a couple of thousand home supporters at best. But, it's live football......better than nothing.

You can also get mini season tickets which allow you entrance to 5 or 10 games of your choice...
