At 14 it doubt it's pedophilia. Pedophilia is pretty rare, look up the term. I think hebephilia, or ephebophilia, is the word you are looking for.

OK - I misused the Greek term, but it's the common parlance of the times. You knew what I meant. Any opinion on what I said besides semantics?

One is pre-pubescent, the other two are pubescent or post-pubescent but could still be in the teen years. Just wanted to point out that an attraction to pre-pubescent kids is rare. But using the term pedophile in a wider context makes it sound more common than it actually is.

Yes, I know exactly what you meant. Fine. Child molestation. Legally under 18 is a child in the United States - even if they are "mature" middle schoolers. Besides, we aren't all psychology majors. I'm pretty sure in law enforcement, people who commit sexual crimes with those under the age of consent are labeled pedophiles....but like I said, you win that battle of semantics.

An ephebophiliac is a legally ambiguous term to classify someone as in that it encompasses ages that are of legal consent in various places.

I wish one of my middle or high schools teacher looked like that. No way I'd rat her out if I was getting some. Holy cow.

What's funny are the comments by the different sexes. Women have been leaving comments about how the teacher is a child predator, a pedophile, a child molester, etc.

Men, on the other hand, wistfully wonder why they couldn't have this woman as their teacher back in the day. Laughing

You might want to google her. That pic isn't the most flattering of her if memory serves.

It's just different with a male teen. I'll try to explain, with my reasons.

I think one of the reasons there is a double standard is that the teen boy is assumed to have no responsibility if pregnancy occurs. The older woman will willing take care of a child by herself. Just my guess.

Another reason is that guys are horny and we know what we would have done at that age and probably wouldn't have been traumatized.

Wouldn't a boy be traumatized if he fell in love with his first lover, but it had to be all secret? Or, would it not matter? I don't know.

We need to track this student down and give him his luckiest boy in America medal right away.

I think the easiest explanation for the "double standard" is that the female role in sex is reception, not penetration. I know there are always contrarians who'll try to claim women can be rapists too or that young men can be pressured into doing stuff they don't want to, but it takes some serious mental gymnastics to try to make that basic disparity irrelevant. Some people are just pot committed to the concept of "equality" and will apply it to ridiculous situations for the sake of forced consistency. I mean, does anyone think Stephen Hawking is inferior because no sensible person would consider him capable of rape? Does anyone think a chimpanzee is superior because it could easily overpower a full grown man? The biological role of women in sex really shouldn't be treated as an issue of social equality. You can accept women as social equals without needing to pretend they're physically identical to men.

From what I've noticed- this is becoming quite common~ Female teacher- male student relationships.

My question; where were these teachers when I was in school?

I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I'm irritated by the double standard, that it's a big, smutty joke when boys are intimidated or pressured into sex by older female teachers.

On the other, yes, I think there's some times when we need to put aside our abstract theories on equality because they don't help us accurately see what's going on. There's a part of me that wishes I had teachers like this too.

I can't pretend to know what these sexual encounters are like, but perhaps there is something fundamentally different in the power dynamics and in the nature of young men. Generally, for young men to have sex with older women isn't physically painful or damaging, and probably isn't humiliating or psychologically scarring. I'm not saying that never happens, but it's different from a young girl's situation or that of a boy with a man. There's also a difference between a teenage boy and one who's eight.

That's true. I guess the problem is in determining where these teacher-student events are abusive and where it's somewhat consensual. I'm not in either case condoning them, or suggesting that because they're less serious than male teacher-teenage girl relationships they're not serious at all.
