Seoulsucker hit the nail on the head. I only went once back in the day but that was pretty much my experience too. Numbers galore but none of them really went anywhere. The women that go to these places are looking to hook up for sure but not with foreign men. They are either scared or just not interested. If you are solo with a huge group of RICH Korean guys then your odds may be a bit better.
If you are a Kyopo from LA/Vancouver and loaded (like most I know here) then you will absolutely clean up. These guys go pretty much every week. You won't be barred from entry and girls will be more interested because well, you are Korean to them.
If you want to hook up stick to the small minority of Korean women that go to Hongdae and Itaewon. It is your best shot. Any women outside of there (which I guess accounts for the vast majority) are just not gonna be interested. You'll also end up spending at least 500,000 KRW. Ouch. |

simple economics really. i cant imagine spending more than 100k on a girl and not getting anywhere. I think the problem is getting a number really means nothing. at those nightclubs you have to make a move that night. they probably dont want to see you again either.
either way, OP i sent a pm. |

Had my first "night" experience yesterday and....
...it was fun as hell. In the end I got cockblocked by one of the guys in my party, but it was still pretty cool and we ate breakfast with a couple of girls who stayed till the end. I heard night clubs hire professional girls to just dance and partake in the whole shenanigans, and that's the vibe I got from the girls at the end, haha.
Saw all kind of girls in terms of looks and personality. One girl walked in, declared everyone was too ugly for her and left. That was the most hilarious part of my night.
There is definitely a "skill" to booking clubs... At first, I babbled like an idiot talking about boring, stupid crap to the first couple of girls on purpose because I thought that's how you're supposed to do things... And they felt too bad for me to leave, I guess, haha.
But nope, just be cool and be natural.
Also, according to the Korean guys in my party, getting laid that night is always nice, but I heard that's actually not that common (unless you lower your standards to drunk girls with no self-respect). The point IS to score numbers and hopefully one of them leads to meeting up outside.
I dunno, some of you guys say it's no fun but I had a great time. Too bad I won't have the chance to go again |

Good post, but this...

It's best to have two Korean guys per foreigner minimum.

...can also be a recipe for c***block. In general, better to have a few Korean guy friends that you really like and trust than have a whole slew that you don't know very well (actually that's true in general, but really true in this case).
Here are some more observations/generalizations/things to look out for: It's fun to go out among Korean guys but it's best to make sure you are very good friends first, and even then, race and p**y tends to trump friendship for them (even if, or sometimes *especially* if they are kyopo).
Also watch for the "bait and switch" where you are used for attention but covertly c***blocked by your "buddies" at the last minute. Also if you do get some interest, best to keep it mellow, since seeing PDA between a Korean girl and a foreigner (esp. non-Asian) can trigger a kind of xenophobic inner rage/jealousy for some guys and they'll be more apt to screw it up or try to steal her back to the home team on principle alone.
And also watch out for the girls who covertly work there; they dress clubby/slutty, dance a lot, flirt a bit but drink a lot of your alcohol and try to get you to buy more.
If/when your girl gets pulled/blocked from you on the dance floor by some random guy claiming she's his girlfriend, take it with a grain of salt (it's often not true) but don't start any static - it's all part of the "fun" here as a non-local.
And don't start any static also as there are plenty of bouncers in back and it just makes it harder for the next foreigners to get into the club next time around. Not speaking from experience here but it's just common sense.
Basically, if you can even gain entry as a foreigner, those clubs are just something to see for the cultural experience. But for meeting women it's a total crapshoot, even for other Koreans (unless they are rich and throwing money around). |
