I'm pretty sure USA will collapse by 2012, when China get annoyed and decide to make its people pull out all their shares in US companies all at once, making USA Bankrupt.

lol, we are going to bring Chaos theory into this? Um okay.

Do I think that America will collapse in the next ten years, no I don't. However I am not by any means an expert.

If this guy predicted the fall of the Soviet empire and then it happenned, and then he predicts the American collapse and then it happens. We are not likely to think that he is full of crap or that he just got lucky.

Course I stopped trusting the American publics ability to smell bull crap and judge it accordingly when George W Bush was elected again. I could say more, but I am sure that it would start a useless side debate.

I guess history will tell if this guy is a kook. but it just seems like people are very quick to jump onto the "this guy is full of crap" wagon if the content is something you don't want to hear, entertain or accept.

If simple world evenst can not be hypothecised about simply because cahos theory makes it impossible to guess outcomes, then whats the point of even studying history.

Welcome to off-topic, where geo-political analysis comes to die.

This would bankrupt China as well. Any idea of much of their foreign reserves are held in dollars?

If the US becomes bankrupt, what do you think will happen to the rest of the world?

I mean, world economies are being rocked now because of a volcano. You really think China (or any nation) could function without the US? (I would say the opposite is also true, to a lesser extent.)

Also, is it even possible for the US to become bankrupt? I mean outside of everyone abandoning the dollar at the exact same time...

I didn't vote for Bush. You have no idea what I want to hear, entertain or accept. Let me clue you in a little. It bothers me when I hear that my niece came home the other day upset because nobody played with her at recess. That's real. It unsettles me, and I think about it for hours even though I can't do anything about it. A prediction that the US will fall doesn't phase me. People have been predicting that since Vietnam. There is nothing new or interesting about it. Same old, same old. The only thing interesting about it is there are people who buy into it. That was what I was commenting on.

It is curious to me that you think the only value history could have is an ability to predict a detailed future. There are many valuable lessons in history including how knowledge is constructed and to whose benefit.

And so the question: who benefits from this prediction? The answer seems to be this guy and the media outlets who use him to fill space.

Yeah, of course China wouldn't do this, but It was on this documentary I was watching a while ago, stating that china is the biggest investor by far and if they did, it would destroy the economy. of course as somebody else says, it would also destroy chinas, but hey. China and US have a dangerously close relationship of distrust, I'm not too fond of it.

I think the US and China are kind of chained at the ankle, there's not really an easy out for either of them.

In terms of the US collapsing, I don't know if anybody can say anything with any sort of accuracy. I've noticed on this program in the video, Russia Today, they often get the naysayers in. Gerald Celente is a frequent guest on their show. In that sense they are getting in people who give a certain point of view that one could argue suits their agenda. Another news program could easily find people who will tell them it's all fine and rosey and uphill from here - that's just poor journalism, not to mention deceptive.

I do think it's obvious though that the American people have been screwed by big business and bankers, big time. I think one day they're going to come to a collective realisation of this (quite a few know but the majority I think doesn't yet, despite a lot of them having an inkling something isn't quite right) but maybe not for a while yet - too many Americans seem to have such a blind patriotism that it would take a lot more (more than just a dislike for Obama) for them to acknowledge how bad the system has been working agaisnt them and their interests.
