Congratulations!

Ah yes...brings back memories. They didn't believe me when I told them that I was a dude. They didn't believe me when I told them that I left my hagwon after just a few weeks to take a corporate job in the international department of a chaebol. They didn't believe me when I said that my company gave me a fat apartment, paid for my dinners and taxis and gave me a business expense account to entertain international business associates in exclusive room salons. They didn't believe me when I told them about my promotion that came with a hefty raise, my own office and my own assistant. They didn't believe me when I told them that I was taking business trips all over the world every month - I posted from whatever city/country I was in so that my IP could be verified, and even then, they didn't believe me.

Now, 3 years later, I'm still here, still working crazy hours, still traveling all over the place, and still enjoying my life in the Motherland. I'm married with a baby on the way. Where are Thundarr and his jealous cronies now? Probably where they were exactly 3 years ago. Do you think they believe me now? Cool

Welcome to the club! I'd say an unusual number of us married to Korean women seem to have boys. That is, of course, if your wife is Korean. Regardless, Congrats!
Shocked

I know a number of foreign males on and off eslcafe who've married Korean women and had sons. In fact, of fifteen foreign-Korean couples I know with children, only one of them has a daughter. Go figure.

The male determines the sex, which makes it even stranger

freakstar, do not worry about missing a few weeks of your son's life after he is born. At that young age, while the dad is important, the mom is front and centre.

As for the flight, unless your wife has a difficult birth (I hope not) then flying from L.A. to Seoul by herself with the baby is not that big a deal.

My wife flew Toronto - chicago -Tokyo - Busan with our new born daughter and our 5 year old son last year as I was stuck in Canada with work and could only join them a couple of weeks later. she had no problems. She reserved the bassinet and seats well in advance as well as the meals.

The one thing to really look for if you have connecting flights is TIME. With a baby it is better to have a little more time between flights, say a couple of hours. Those lovely 45 minute connections are great when you are alone, with a baby they are really not realistic!

Good luck to you both.
