They actually can be used interchangeably. Embarrassed to admit that a few friends of mine had a debate over this on Facebook. I still think "addicting" sounds weird though. |

| I always thought 'addicting' was an unnecessary new coinage for the perfectly good existing word 'addictive', but it does have a different flavour to it, and I believe it's used only for positive things, things in other words which are tempting or appealing to us: ice-cream, and certain foods which are called 'moorish', meaning sort of the same thing. Is that what you mean, peppermint, by saying the OP doesn't know the difference, because Dave's could never be as positive or appealing a thing as that? I don't know, but the thread title is misleading anyway; turns out to be just another 'I don't understand you guys, you should all just shut up or go home' thread. |
