What does this stuff taste like? Is it that good that many of you are looking for it?

Buckfast isn't sparkling, and "fortified" rather than "extra-strong".. It's the caffeine and other fun stuff they put in it that gives it the kick (think cheap port mixed with thai red bull), plus the neds tend to put away a couple of bottles at a time.

Be interesting to see how many ppl who wouldn't be seen dead drinking it back home would get faux-nostalgic and start buying it here.

Which Homeplus burned down? The one across from the GS Plaza or the one near New Core?

New core. lol i think the OP drank a little of the Buckfast before typing this thread

It didn't burn down, the 3rd floor caught on fire and did some major damage, nothing structural though. It's gonna take a long time to repair....

Maybe they're gonna move all that Buckfast to the one by GS. Very Happy

The one by GS was superior anyway.

As far as Buckie goes, it's definitely something I'd like to try what with Ted Leo writing a song about it, more or less.

Buckfast? I have never heard of it. It is one letter off of what Boholdiver does when he's drunk on Saturday night.

In Scotland they call it "Wreck the Hoose Juice" (wreck the house juice).

It's also popular in my university city - Galway (in West Ireland... for some reason, it never caught on in Dublin). Used to drink it a lot as a student. It's dead cheap, maybe 5 euro a bottle, but it's a bit of an acquired taste - sweet and syrupy.

As someone else suggested Buckfast is not sparkling. If you take a little sip it tastes a bit like Parma Violets. Tinkies drink it because it is probably the most units of alcohol for the cheapest price and they probably think as it says 'tonic' they won't get a hangover.

I was at the Homeplus across from the GS Plaza on the weekend. I made a point of checking for Buckfast. I didn't see it, and the booze section there is quite small. Maybe they were stocking it at the Homeplus near New Core. I be sure to check it out next time I'm over there.

I also noted that they don't have it at the E-Mart by Hyundae Mall.

Or maybe I just missed the big rush to the supermarket to grab a bottle.

It's not tasty in any way whatsoever. Put it this way, I'd rather subject myself to soju than Buckfast any day of the week.

You beat me to it.

Seriously, it's not worth it. There's a good reason only neds and students drink it.

Buckfast, now that takes me back *misty eyes*

Laughing at the yanks not knowing what the hell it is.

It's from England originally, made to keep the Scots down.

I was reading this and thought this was some sort of Sean Connery SNL Celebrity Jeopardy joke. Ironical of course because Connery is Scottish.
