Umm, do you have a problem with the op? All the op said was that he or she taught for 16 hours on a particular day. Do you mind explaining how you drew the conclusion that the op is a money loving prostitute? That may have been the only time the op worked a day like that. Also the op may have hated it, and may have sworn never to do it again. Try a little critical thinking before you let the accusations, and criticisms fly. On a closing note, lets say the op is the industrious type, and wants to work hard to get ahead. Is there anything wrong with that?

Effort is good, but when you only use it for self-gain (and you can't work like that every day) then its like flushing talent down the toilet. Will you work like that if you have a girlfriend? A family? Things you enjoy doing or people you enjoy being around?
And if you love money so much, why not work at a bank? |

| Used to do around five forty min classes at ps ele a day and then an hr subway ride to a haggie and did about 4 -5 50 min classes then subway ride back got me home close to 11.30pm. Was tiring but I found lots of dbl coffees (2 packs of mix per cup) between classes and 2 red ginseng drinks beforeI got to the hakwan was enough to get me through okay. Earned some good cash so was worth it. Also found the weeks just flew by once I got stuck in gear. |

Ah yes, it's true that this is the same for every single hard working person. Work = Unhappiness.
But really - My step father was consistently working 15 hours daily for years - A long distance lorry driver exporting cars. He loved it.
When his arthritis in his hands started to kick in, things started to turn a bit. He could no longer work long hours and had to do an office job, he came home angry, taking it out on our cat, throwing it against a ladder, threatening to hit my sister and I on several occasions. My mother divorced him not long after and I've never seen him since despite how much I liked him and loved to travel with him.
But at least he was only working 8 hour days. |

Four 75 min classes. Then after I'm done teaching I attend a 2h15min language class as a student. Then I sleep for five hours and go back to work for two more 75 min classes.
I do this every week, but only once a week thank god. |

I used to get up in the morning, ten o'clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work 29 hours a day....

10 classes. 8 regular and 2 one to one. 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. But the OT was worth it.

madoka seems to be a healthy, stable guy who enjoys his work and life.
ThingsComeAround... you seem to have a lot of anger and frustration built up inside. Have you considered seeing a psychiatrist? |

I would and have. |
That's fine, if that what you want to do.
madoka started this thread as somewhat of a boast- that is what disappoints me.
Tell me, Capt'n, what is so great about working a 16 hour day? Okay- you are no different from a Mexican picking fruit on an Arizona farm. Nothing special about those workers, is there? |
Why the odd little bit about Mexicans?? Such a strnge comment.
personally, working 16 hours in one day would mean a decent amount of money for me. I'm not sure Id come here to talk about it, but Id feel a certain amount of satisfaction in money earned. |

16 beats me. That's intense.
I top out around 13 during summer/winter intensives, though I haven't had to do that too often. At a past gig it was much worse; there was no time even for lunch/dinner breaks, so we'd sometimes have to buy meals and eat in class. Of course we'd have to get stuff for the students too. ^_^
Factor in the commute and short breaks, though, and 16 is about right on a daily basis during the intensive sesh. |
