Beyond discussions like this post do people actually try and divide the foreigners they meet into rookies and veterans of the Korea scene? Isn't that kind of difficult? Outside of someone new coming to school I have no idea when they got here and it is not until I have been chatting for awhile that it might come up. If the first thing someone does is ask me when I got here the warning lights go off that this is going to be some blowhard who likely hasn't made a good friend in there time here and now is going to feel all superior and give me the real skinny on Korea - painful!
So as someone who is not new to Korea and Asia I don't mention how long I have been over here and I don't ask. See how the socializing goes on equal footing. |
