There is a difference in actions done during a war and actions done during what Americans do in Iraq: Invading another country and acting like cowboys there...

In a war, yes, there may be some rules but it is a war.. Kill/kill situation.
Here, you just go and invade another country for "democracy" purposes or because there were chemical weapons (of which none are found..)

Seriously this is news?' No one hurt maybe feelings. As for the hate that Johum expresses. A couple of questions ; if it is American troops that you hate is it because many of them are people of color. A high percentage of American soldiers are of african descent. Is this the problem? Holding on to that much hate can lead to physical problems you should release it. Go to Itewon find a soldier make sure you take necati with you , wear your magic mapleleafs this will give you extradinary powers. Tell soldier how you feel . Mapleleaf will protect you. In fact he will be so in awe of your healthcare system he will not know how to respond. Since he is stupid you whould easily be able to insult him and he will not be aware of it. try this and you and necarti will feel much much better! Let us know how it goes.

I find this footage interesting because it shows the world what some soldiers are actually like. Not all of them are the disciplined macho tough guys that the war movies show.

Some are like Pat Tillman who gave up a multimillion dollar pro football career to serve his country. But the media went gangbusters with his story and made him a hero. It sounds like a very honorable and selfless thing to do though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaMAVAqef7I

The thing I find most disappointing about the video is that the U.S. military leaders didn't isolate the Iraqi detainees from the U.S. soldiers. Where's the discipline and order?

Some other poster asked about comparing the U.S. military with the Chinese military on the treatment of detainees, I have no doubts that they would torture, but I'll bet their soldiers are more disciplined and are not going to do stupid things like sing dumb songs into the ears of detainees.

China is poised to surpass The United States as the #1 world power. Probably not a good thing, but they have the manpower, discipline and soon enough, the money. The silliness I see in these videos just convinces me of this.

Right !! I remember seeing those disciplined china troops waving and pointing their guns making shooting sounds like kids on the playground.
very disciplined.
Obviously know little about China or the chinese military

Please keep posting your vast military experience that you gain from Youtube videos. it is very helpful. Again it would be better to relase the venom on the troopspersonally, combat vets particuraly like the feed back.

Well, you're right. Maybe I shouldn't give the Chinese military credit when I haven't seen them in action.

However, I've seen many U.S. troops in Itaewon. Some of them don't obey Korean laws. Some of them don't obey their own troop's curfew.

I have talked with Korean troops and their reaction to the behavior of American soldiers in their country is disbelief & disappointment.

May American ESL teachers in Korea tell me they're embarrassed by the behavior of the troops in Itaewon.

I don't know if you've been to Itaewon, but are you proud of the military personnel you see there? And if they're not causing trouble, why are there U.S. military police policing the area?

haha Smile)

I surely don't hate Americans or the American soldiers. I don't actually "hate" at all.

I only dislike soldiers, no matter what country they are, misbehaving, abusing the power given to them in a way they should not. This goes to American soldiers but also Dutch soldiers (DutchBat-Srebrenica) Isreali soldiers, Soldiers of the "Democratic republic" of Congo who go around and rape etc etc...

No country is saint.. Its just a shame that some do get prosecuted and others don't..

Hate is a big word. Don't put me into the same bracket please Smile

Sorry about the hate thing. For centuries soldiers and civilians has usually been a bad mix regardless of the nationality. Amped up young men with a gang backing them up add alcohol. trouble. I have met and drank with soldiers in itewon, some were extremely nice , but many if not most pretty much pushed my tolerance to the limit. So yeah I can undestand where you are coming from. Just edited video isnt very compelling evidence.

i dont believe the Chinese tortured N.A.T.O. troops in the Korean war. they did attempt indoctrination (brainwashing) but North koreans tortured and executed some N.A.T.O. prisoners. i believe some Sunderlands were brutalized before being shot with their hands barbed wired behind them.

American soldiers are a reflection of American society- insolated, arrogant and uneducated.

I am not afraid to say that the dumbest American soldier was probably the brightest kid in special ed.
Throw these freakin' mofos a bone.

BTW- yeah, I am Canadian.

What of it?

Oh well the musing of a British colonial subject and thir jealousy of the U.s. doesnt really bother me. But you should really express this to real live Americans. As long as you have your enchanted maple leaf patch you will be safe. Dont hide behind the keyboard. If you teach English in Korea then you know that you have a job because those soldiers are in Korea. But vent to them, they fear the leaf!!

Look relax so a G.I took the girl home that you were interested in. Dont worry. that special thing that your Mom and dad told you about will happen some day. I mean you have all those Battlestar Gallactica downloads and every bit of Rush that was ever recorded. What girl wouldnt want that. Good Luck!

What the hell are you talking about?
Are you talking about yourself?
I think so because you are not talking about me.

To them, they feel so entitled because they have that SOFA agreement, which is considered their "get out of jail free" card.
The reason for that is so the Korean police don't kick the living crap out of them during interrogations and expose them for the babies they truly are.

It's funny how Amer-Ricans can easily make assumptions about people so easily without taking a good look at themselves. They think more about themselves than any other people I have ever met.

The US Army is a good example of this- a soldier will step on another soldier and rat them out for the purpose of getting a promotion. Their NCOs and officers will claim the work their soldiers do and get all the recognition, yet when a soldier screws something up, it is the soldier who takes the fall.
The reason scumbag Amer-Rican soldiers run amock is because; 1) Amer-Ricans are mostly ignorant of other cultures. They see themselves as the biggest kid on the block (yet one that is going to get knocked out). 2) soldiers are generally so uneducated that they are easily brainwashed by their superiors to do whatever they are told to do.

The only this is made a big deal is because they got caught. If the media was not on them, they would continue to commit such atrocities.

As for me being thankful to have a job here?
Hardly!
I worked in some places that totally hate Amer-Ricans, but look kindly toward Canadians because we are not the 'world's murderers'.

I was blessed with the greatest gift God could give someone- a Canadian passport.

did not know that Britain allowed Canada to issue passports! Well one more time. You need to tell this to the soldiers not rage on a message board. I still think this is a race thing. Not used to being around people of african descent perhaps. Something like that. Or like I said some girl chased after a soldier instead of you. As for Canadians being loved dont be so sure about that one.

As an expert on the U.S military, and an expert on the U.s. you should have an easy time talking to the G.I.s and perhaps unbrain washing them. Dont be afraid, summon up that fire inside like you get when you are clubbling seal pups or harpooning a walrus.

Are you for real dude? The only reason that you got a job(because you wouldn't be able to get one in Canadia) is because the US military is protecting your butt from the Norks and Chinese. Otherwise, if all hell broke loose, your butt would be right there waiting for the US military to airlift you out of the country Laughing . Canadians seem to be like Koreans: massive inferiority complex and weak. Weak people, which is why you guys are at the bottom of the totem pole(ahem).

"Cana-dians" are not exactly on top around here either. Many Koreans think that you guys are drug addicts. They've told me. As for something like the SOFA...duh...of course the US needs it...have you not seen how much hatred the Koreans(no doubt spurred on by the media) have for the US military presence. Of course, those guys need protections from some cocky, Korean police officer(and I use the term loosely) who will always, always take the side of the Korean over the foreigner. No shit, sherlock. Yeah protections are needed against this sort of behavior. If there were none, you can bet the Korean police would use Gestapo style tactics agains them. As a foreigner in Korea(if you are), you should know this. Without the SOFA, the Koreans would be doing all kinds of crap to the military and the US would not stay under those terms. Hell, I say let them defend their own damn selves against the Norks and Chinese. I am all for getting the US off this ungrateful peninsula.

You are probably one of these guys that is jumping with joy at the thought of China being top dog...man, are you in for a shock if it ever happens. If you think the US is bad, China will be your worst nightmare come true. They don't want to defend Korea, they want to take it over and they'll probably one day take over your lovely Canadia as well. I mean, look at how they are trying to claim territory in the South China Sea. And they will take it and offer no compromises. One day, you'll be thinking back to the glory days of the US. China could easily take Canadia over militarily because Cana-dians are weak.

I do wish you would actually express your feelings to a group of soldiers here. But then again, you don't got the stones.

Look Johum, I'm just winding you up. I dont hate Canadians even the maple leaf patch wearing Yobs who want to lecture me about the avro arrow or Canadian healthcare. But you are expressing real hate here. Now there have been posts on this site where posters have wished American cities destroyed and a lot of other crap. Its' okay to be predjudiced toward Americans I guess. But you seem to have a real problem. Being a bigot will eat up your soul.

I suspect you think you know something about the U.S. but have never actually been there. Yeah you got a job because the U.S is here. S.O.f.A.
agreements are standard for most countries when they have troops stationed abroad. Not exclusive to the U.S in Korea. Now remember the troops here dont get to spend a day playing hangman calling it teaching they have to train, work a pretty demanding schedule. Some are stationed near the DMZ and under the gun literally. They will get a free ride to college if they want when they get out and free healthcare also. So maybe they are not so stupid. But yeah if it does get hairy here, the U.S. will provide evacuation for Canadians. You know lots of people , not just Americans dont like Canadians attitudes toward the U.S. In Korea a lot of people dont like the troubles that Canadians have caused. But wishmaster is correct you dont have the stones to tell how you feel to a soldier. Man up ! Instead I suspect you will sit in an all Canadian group and talk about how bad America is. Inferiority complex on display and noted by everyone .

You're a Canadian. You're culturally the same as an American. You've nailed the only difference, people will not hate you for your gov't's foreign policy. I don't see what you're getting so worked up about. You need a hobby or something.

But here's how its going to work. If you continue to make blatantly derogatory and bigoted statements, I will report you. Every time. You will be banned, and this site will be better off.

I'm fairly used to people hating on Americans, but I think most people have the sense to put it aside, or lack the courage to beef with us. Sounds to me like you need to resolve your issues with American soldiers with them (oh, right, they'd kick the crap out of you).

And you don't have any courage coming on to the internet and bashing Americans. It just makes you look like a pathetic, hateful coward.

And I suspect there are Canadians out there who feel you're making them look bad.
